I waited a few days will I was definitely 2 years past my previous opening date and was able to open one again without issue and confirmed my promo code was attached.

For example: Wells Fargo frequently offers a $300 bonus for having a DD of $500 for 3 months in a row.
So I push $500 from my (free) Schwab Brokerage account to my Wells Fargo account once a month, and then send it from Wells Fargo right back to Schwab a few days later.

I usually use my Schwab Brokerage account to act as my “Direct Deposit”
Just make sure you note the fee waiving requirements.
You can downgrade your account to the easier to keep fee free version after you get the bonus.
