A beautiful example of provenance 🤌 We inscribed the Brad Sherman @mongs_nft in the first 1M inscriptions. Then, we migrated 69 Mongooses to #Ordinals and inscribed a gallery under “Shermong” Now, the entire MongsNFT collection (6,969) will be under the same parent 🔥 Brad’s Story 👇 This story is one of the more entertaining origin stories in crypto culture because it starts with a politician criticizing crypto and accidentally creating a meme. Act 1: Brad Sherman Invents a Coin In December 2021, U.S. Congressman Brad Sherman was speaking during a congressional hearing about cryptocurrency. While arguing that crypto assets constantly compete with one another, he said something along the lines of: “Bitcoin could be displaced by Ether, which could be displaced by Dogecoin, which could be displaced by HamsterCoin, CobraCoin, or MongooseCoin.” Crypto Twitter immediately seized on “Mongoose Coin.” - MONG Act 2: MongsNFT Out of that culture emerged MongsNFT. MongsNFT became the flagship NFT collection representing the MONG community on Ethereum. The collection was made by a legitimate Pixel artist with a background in game art at SEGA. As the meme hype died, the coin was forgotten, but the pixel art lived on.
