This week Year 6 children enjoyed visiting Discovery Park in Sandwich to participate in the Science Jamboree! Thank you @STEMHUB_SE for organising this fantastic event aimed at building children’s curiosity and raising science capital and aspirations. @BWPrimary
Year 6 enjoyed developing their understanding of evolution and inheritance through engaging in the workshops run by Palaeoquest last term. The children examined real fossils and were able to speak directly to palaeontologist, Dr Helen. @BWPrimary
Year 4 children have been using question generators and planning their own enquiries linked to our pond and school grounds in preparation for the Great Science Share showcase event at Discovery Park, Sandwich next month @GreatSciShare@pstt_whyhow@BWPrimary
Well done to the 2 Year 5 teams from BW who took part in the inter-school STEM competition at St Andrew’s School in Rochester. Our teams came first and second overall for their excellent designs and construction of vehicles and marble runs. Well done both teams! @BWPrimary
After reading 'Percy's Bumpy Ride' the children created their own 'flying machines' using a variety of construction resources and junk modelling. There has been so much creativity and mark making!

Year 4 children are enjoying their outdoor science learning about food chains linking to our pond. They are using real life experiences to understand how living things depend on each other while rehearsing scientific vocabulary and asking questions @BWPrimary

Another great ‘Science on the Playground’ session led by the Year 5 and 6 Science Ambassadors. This week children were encouraged to investigate their own questions linked to balls, applying their learning about forces including gravity @BWPrimary
The children in nursery have been learning the story The Three Little pigs.They have been exploring materials to build their own houses from straw, sticks and bricks to discover which is the strongest. The children chose to use sponges and brushes to paint their own pigs pictures
Nursery children have been making Gingerbread Men with a kind parent. There has been lots of mixing, rolling and cutting. The children used their senses to describe the mixture as 'sticky' and 'smells spicy'.
Making butternut squash and pumpkin soup using school grown vegetables 😋 they chopped and peeled, cooked and blended- even saved the seeds to grow more pumpkins next year 🎃 🧡
Year 4 are carrying out fair tests exploring factors that affect how quickly chocolate melts. Variables they are considering include: the size, brand, type and packaging of chocolate @BWPrimary
