This was not Schnall's doing. SC spent too much time chasing guys that were not taking that job -- Scott Forbes, primarily. Forbes is a Tar Heel through and through. He was never leaving UNC for South Carolina.

COACHING NEWS: @GamecockBSB, as expected since day one, will name Coastal Carolina's Kevin Schnall as its head coach. Schnall, despite flirtations with Scott Forbes (that wasn't happening), has been the frontrunner for the #Gamecocks job all along. Good job by SC not to overthink this.

He was driving by the Ingomar Franklin Park Little League baseball fields last night and saw the lights on and just pulled on in.
He was there over 2 hours signing, taking pictures and playing catch with the kids.

It’s finally official. This was going to be the case all along. Probably took longer than it should have but it’s done. Solid hire by South Carolina but it will be interesting to see how he does there. Can be argued that he won with Gary Gilmore’s team, not his own…
