Experiences with Maha Periyava: My Memories of Maha Periyaval Once my father went to Maha Periyaval and said, “I am one of the directors of Mettur Chemical and Industrial Corporation. We have certain policies which we follow in the meetings of the Board of Directors. If the company makes a large profit in one year, we set apart a certain amount as reserve, another amount for depreciation of assets in the factories, another amount for dividend equalisation if possible for the future lean years etc. Our Mutt should follow a similar policy. Whatever income comes to the Mutt, Maha Periyaval and Pudu Periyaval give away and spend it immediately on various dharma kainkaryams. One should not do so but save some amount for the future when income of the Mutt may not be good and expenses may be heavy.” Maha Periyaval smiled at my father and asked “Do you know what Pudu Periyaval’s Janma Nakshathram is?” My father replied: “Avittam.” His Holiness: “Don’t worry about the Mutt’s finances. Pudu Periyaval has got Dhana Rekhai in his hand and money will always come for whatever project he starts.” How prophetic and truthful that utterance was. Over the past five decades, for the hundreds of projects – religious, social or educational which the Pudu Periyaval has started, Goddess Lakshmi has always blessed with Kanakadhara, through various individuals and institutions. Experiences with Maha Periyava: Puthra Bhagyam with Sri Maha Periyava’s Grace! “Once I went for Maha Periyava’s darshan to Kanchi. At that time a lady had come for darshan. She expressed her grievance of not having children. Periyava remained silent for a while. Then He asked her “How many sisters does your husband have? On festive occasions have you ever given at least a blouse piece to them? ‘That lady stood silent, bending her head down. Periyava continued to tell ….’ That could be the reason. Every year do some good to them. On nine continuous Fridays, give bananas to Gho Matha”. This is how Periyava with firmness would point out the mistakes of devotees and at the same time with infinite compassion graciously tell them the remedies as well which always overwhelmed me. Later I also heard the news that the lady did have Puthra Bhagyam. Would not Periyava’s words come true?” Narrated by Maha Mahopadhyaya Badhoor Rangaraja Swami, Asthana Vidhwan of Ahobila Matam and Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam.

Namah Shivay 🙏 We're starting a small community initiative called Goodwill Circle. The idea is simple: people often need help, and many are willing to help, but they rarely find each other at the right time. Goodwill Circle aims to connect people who need support with those who can offer it, strengthen local communities, and encourage meaningful acts of kindness. We're currently running a small pilot and would love your feedback and participation. If you believe that small acts of goodwill can create a stronger community, we'd be happy to have you join us. Together, let's build a circle where goodwill inspires more goodwill. ❤️ goodwill-circle.web.app/

This question seems to route from mere political misinformation and lack of understanding of our true heritage. Bharat has been a land of tapasvī, ṛṣi and powerful tāntrika. However, it was also a land of politically oppressing classes, people who were not afraid of God and who modified our sacred texts to their advantage. This oppression and disgusting behaviour were intact for centuries where some classes were mistreated and were not even given basic human rights. The colonizers and oppressors got this opportunity of division rule because of our own karma. No ṛṣi, tapasvī or tāntrika can change the design of karma. Even mahābalī Hanuman who could have changed the whole rāmāyaṇa single handed just followed the kala and accepted brahmāstra. So this will be a rubbish idea that fate will change and their will be no answer to karma. As for Hindus are in danger let me update you with some real information. The Hindu population in Bharat till 2011 is 966 million (Data from PEW research center). The population of M was 172 and do not even talk about C because they stand nowhere in this data. As per projections Hindus will cross 1.3 billion in 2050 and M & C would be no where in comparison. As per 2024 data, we have more then 6,50000 temples in India while M stand at 55,000. The actual temples are far more then this figure because some of them belong to private trusts. So, there is no one in danger. The only danger we have is from our own avarice, our degrading cultural and religious values, dishonesty and cheating. The danger is from the crop of fools who spread misinformation on the name of Dharma and just reap their own benefits by modifying young brains. The dharmic heritage has disappeared from young minds because they see no benefits in following a religion, which was morally disgusting in history. We need to cultivate true dharmā values in youngsters but the base of that is hidden in purity and honesty of income structure. Government persons, politicians and multiple other areas are full of people who believe that cheating is fine in normal daily functions. Things do not work without bribes. Government is laying pathetic taxes and using the money for tamasha instead of real development. The whole country is sold to fools and still everything is been taxed without any actual ground level benefits. This abnormal income will never allow the young minds to develop a dharmā quality. The belief that money can be earned through any means and still dharma can be followed is deeply rooted in our country. This will not allow any change in future. This is what Kaliyuga is all about.

Experiences with Maha Periyava: An Exemplary Role Model Periyava was an incarnation of God Himself and He followed all the daily rituals and observed all the vrathams to make sure He set an example for all us. Aippasi pooram is the Janma Nakshatram of Kamakshi Amman. On this day, Periyava does milk Abhishekam for Devi Kamakshi. As usual on this day, as soon as Periyava woke up, He bathed and completed His daily rituals and Pooja. He did not drink a single drop of water until then. Without further delay He started walking towards Kamakshi Amman temple. Periyava’s disciples carried milk and Periyava carried milk in His wooden pot. It was 4 o’clock in the evening. Periyava without drinking even a drop of water was walking to Kamakshi Amman temple. He could take Bhiksha only after returning to SriMatham after having darshan and seeing the abhishekam at the temple. When He was walking towards the temple, a devotee fell at the feet of Periyava and touched His feet inadvertently. Periyava’s disciples were worried that Periyava would have to bathe again. One of the disciples of Periyava named Kannan was very disappointed. He did not want Periyava to bathe again and do all the rituals again and stress His body. He wanted to tell Periyava that it was alright since anybody who was visiting the temple was already clean and pure. He asked Periyava not to bathe again, since it is said that just witnessing the people who have come to temple during any festival in itself is a blessing. Also after having darshan, it was not necessary to bathe. Kannan was telling this loudly so that Periyava would listen to this. Periyava understood the disciple’s intention, but as soon as He reached Kamakshi temple, He went directly to the temple pond. Periyava looked at Kannan and said,”It is very auspicious to bathe in the Kamakshi Amman temple tank on Thula month pooram. All of you bathe now”. Why this snanam now? Was it because of the devotee touching Periyava’s feet or was it because that was already ordained before. No one else other than Periyava could think of something like this tactfully. Periyava would have already known about the devotee about to touch His feet and how Kannan will feel agitated about it. Only after bathing at the temple pond did Periyava have darshan and did abhishekam for Kamakshi Amman. After all this, He walked backed to SriMatham, did His daily evening rituals and then took bhiksha. The bhiksha for that day was only milk. Maha Periyava never missed an opportunity to show us how to live an exemplary life by following rituals (Aacharam).

BHAGAVAN ON HIMSELF (PERUMAL CASE) " I have not given sannyas (the status of renunciate) to anyone, nor have I taken sannyas from anyone. I was living in Skandashram. My mother, who was also living there, passed away in 1922. Her corpse was brought to the foot of the hill and buried here, and a samadhi (shrine) was built over it. From that time, puja was started here. After a while, I left Skandashram and came and stayed here. At no time have I taken any title. At no time have I initiated any disciples with diksha (formal initiation) or in any ritualistic way. I do not impose any restrictions or discipline on those who gather around me. I do not invite anyone to come to this place, nor do I tell anyone to leave this place. By birth, I am a Brahmin. I was a Brahmachari (celibate student) when I came here (i.e. to Tiruvannamalai). Within an hour of arriving, I threw away my sacred thread, clothes, etc.; I shaved my head clean. I had about three rupees and threw it away, and since then, I do not touch money. I accept in my hands things that can be eaten. I do not give upadesa (spiritual instruction) or call myself a guru. However, if questions are asked by seekers I answer them. Since 1907, people have called me ' Ramana Rishi'. I am an 'athyashrami' (beyond the ashrams and castes) not falling within the category of any of the ashrams. This state is recognized in the sastras. It is explained in the Suta Samhita. The athyashrami can own property if necessary. He needs a guru, but the Self is my guru. The Athyashrami is not bound to observe any rites. I have no desire to acquire properties, but things come, and I accept them. I agree that to own property is worldly, but I do not hate the world.” Bhagavan was questioned by a lawyer because Perumal Swami had accused him on absurd grounds.

Experiences with Maha Periyava: Bharat, a great and ancient country A European stayed in Kanchipuram for many days. He became an ardent practitioner of Indian culture and wore the dhoti, angavastram and sacred ash and did Nama japa regularly. Every day he would stand at a distance and have Periyava’s darshan for long. He did not even desire to come near Periyava and talk to him. If anyone tried to talk to him, he would say with obvious emotion, “Bharat is a sacred land, where many have lived and continue to live.” He would voice with heart-felt sorrow his regret that he was not born in India. The day came when he had to depart. He wished to take a souvenir of the sacred land of India. He bought a map of India and stuck Periyaval’s picture on it. He took a fistful of sand from where Periyaval sat. He also took a vilva garland that Periyava had worn upon His head. He placed everything in a box and put the box before Periyava for His blessings. Periyava placed His hand upon the box for long. Then pushing it towards the gentleman, raised His hand in blessing. Joy suffused the European’s face. Touching the box reverently to his eyes several times, he left like Bharata leaving Chitrakuta, bearing Lord Sri Rama’s paduka. The Drivel and Litter of Modern Society in the Name of Jyotisa and Vastu prasna.org/the-drivel-and-li… prasna.org/the-drivel-and-li… The Drivel and Litter of Modern Society in the Name of Jyotiṣa and Vāstu Modern society is full of spiritual garbage. Everywhere people are selling quick tricks in the name of jyotiṣa, vāstu, healing and remedies. Some call it mokṣapat (New scam). Some sell single planet jyotiṣa. Some sell nakṣatra jyotiṣa as if one star alone can tell the whole life. Some use click words to catch frightened people. Some vashikaran babas paste posters on dirty walls, electric posts, bus stops and public toilets. Some sell reiki healing, feng shui, pyramids, crystals and many other things which have no real place in classical jyotiṣa or sthāpatya. The problem is not only that these things are false. The real problem is that they catch people when they are weak. A person suffering in marriage, money, career, health or family will easily fall into these traps. He wants one fast answer. He wants one fast cure. These people know this weakness and they use it. First they create fear, then they sell some object, mantra, yantra, healing, pyramid, vashikaran or secret method. Classical Jyotiṣa Is Not a Shortcut Classical jyotiṣa is not like this. It does not work on one planet, one nakṣatra or one fancy word. A chart has lagna, grahas, bhāvas, rāśis, daśā, transit, strength, weakness, yoga, ariṣṭa and many other rules. The result is judged only after seeing the full structure. No serious text says that one planet alone can decide the whole life. No serious text says that one nakṣatra alone can explain marriage, career, wealth, health and death. These are modern shortcuts made for business. Classical Sthāpatya Is Not Shopping

Experiences with Maha Periyava: Punya Kainkaryam In the early 1980’s my income began to increase and I was able to save some money for punya kainkaryam (good deeds accruing merit). Maha Periyaval was camping in Maharashtra at a place near Sholapur. My father told His Holines “Raman is now getting some good income. Please advise him what is the best punyakainkaryam for which he can spend his money and get the maximum punyam” His Holiness was silent for a few minutes and then replied “All of you as Brahmins should have studied the Vedas and spent your life teaching the Vedas to others. It is now too late. Many in your family have become doctors. The next best thing you can do since you have not done Veda Adhyayanam is to support Veda Patasalas and Vedic scholars. Give the maximum possible money for this and you will compensate to some extent for you not having studied the Vedas”. With His divine blessings and the blessings of Pudu Periyaval, Bala Periyaval and my parents it has become my great good fortune today to be able to give some amount every month to the Veda Patasala at our Sankara Mutt at Tirumala. ***** At Kurnool the three Periyavals stayed for several weeks. The first time we went there and performed pada pooja to Sri Adi Sankara’s Paduka the padukas were covered by a silver kavacham. A few days later when we visited again the kavacham was not there. Pattammal, my wife, asked Sri Chandramouleeswara Sastrigal who was officiating as the priest for the Pada Pooja what had happened to the silver kavacham. Shri Sastrigal said that the silver kavacham was put temporarily by Pudu Periyaval as the Padukas were likely to be damaged. Maha Periyaval however wanted only gold kavacham and had Himself removed the silver kavacham. He then showed the bare padukas to Bala Periyaval and pointed out the depressions made in the padukas by Adi Sankara’s toes and heels. He did this so that Bala Periyaval would understand how much Adi Sankara would have walked all over India in those padukas for such impression to be made on the padukas. My father did not attend the pooja that morning and I told him in the evening in the hotel where we were staying, about the proposal for the gold kavacham. Being a very practical man, he objected to the idea and said it will be a great attraction for thieves as the padukas were small in size and were being carried all over the Mutt at every camp. I spoke to Pudu Periyaval the next morning and conveyed my father’s idea that it may be unsafe to put a gold covering for the padukas. Pudu Periyaval replied that Maha Periyaval has decided to put a gold covering and thereafter, no further discussion was possible. Pudu Periyaval said it may cost about Rs. 2.25 lakhs, which was quite a large sum in those days. That night I suddenly had a feeling that I should undertake the whole project myself. I requested my father for permission to request His Holiness. My father asked whether I can manage to donate such a large sum at such short notice. I replied, “I will manage somehow” Next morning I requested Pudu Periyaval if I could pay the entire cost of Rs.2.25 lakhs and our family would feel so much blessed, if he could agree. Pudu Periyaval was non-committal. He said many devotees wanted to participate by offering gold ornaments and cash, but he agreed to convey my request to Maha Periyaval. We waited in suspense for the whole day. The next morning Pudu Periyaval said Maha Periyaval has agreed. You can send the money. We were overjoyed to be granted such blessing. The most interesting part of this story came a month later. An elderly lady, one of my patients called on me in my clinic. She said she came purposely to see me, not for medical consultation, but for some other matter. She proceeded: “I went to Kurnool three months ago. I heard that a gold covering is to be put for Adi Shankara’s Padukas. Several other ladies and I took off our bangles and chains and offered them to Maha Periyaval towards

the required gold. Maha Periyaval told us he is going to allot the project to one person only; He would not tell us who that person would be”. My parents and I went to Kurnool a few days after she had left. In my ignorance I had imagined till then that the offer to undertake the full project single-handed was my original idea. Suddenly I now realized that it was Maha Periyaval’s telepathic power which had converted us suddenly that evening from opponents of the idea of gold covering to supplicants to take on the whole project single handed!. It is only because of the blessings of my parents and forefathers and probably some punyakainkaryams done by me in my earlier birth, that I was given this unique opportunity in this life. Experiences with Maha Periyava: The Creator’s secret We halted for the night in a Siva temple. In a tiny hamlet on the way to Madanapalli to Chittoor. It was late in the night when we reached there and because of the fatigue caused by the long hours of walking, Periyava withdrew to rest. Since we usually began walking in the early hours of the morning, all of us, the attendants were ready the next day. Periyava said,” Let us start in the evening’. A short while later, when the day broke and the sun began to shine brilliantly, Periyava came out of the temple to give darshan. About fifty people with little children in two’s, prostrated to Him from a distance. We were surprised. The people of the village had all come the previous night in a queue, had Periyava’s darshan and left. They had come then because they did not want to miss his darshan in case Periyava left in the early hours before dawn. Why then did these people not come for darshan? “Come closer to see Periyava well.” We said, inviting them. They did not come. “We are not allowed to come to the temple. We have been waiting all night to see Sami. Sami has come out only now” It was the stipulation of the village that they were not to come to the temple for they were considered untouchables. We went to report the matter to Periyaval. There was in fact no need for us to do that all. “There are plenty of mangoes given to us by those who came for darshan in the night. Fill a sack with the fruit and give it to them. They have not eaten anything last night. When we gave them the fruit they ate it happily. “You people have not eaten anything last night?” “No. We waited to see Sami .Sami was inside. So we waited because He had to come out anyway” How did Periyava know that they had not eaten anything in the previous night? Well that is the creator’s secret. SAYING 'RAM RAM' SAVES A DEVOTEE Source- From FB wall of Sri Joby Bishop One devotee was only one year old when his older brother died. His mother, deeply upset, took her son on a long pilgrimage. In Jagannath Puri, she laid her small boy at the feet of the murti of Lord Jagannath and offered him to the Lord. Years passed, and she never told her husband or her son about this incident. More than fifty years later, her son, who’d become a devotee of Maharajji, was driving his car to work, repeating the name ‘Ram’ to himself while driving. Suddenly, a truck sped across the intersection and collided with his car, turning it over on its roof. Some bystanders pulled him out of the car. He was completely unhurt, but when he saw the extent of the damage to the car, he went into minor shock. The doctors could find no physical injury. That evening, Maharajji telephoned him from Sitapur, saying, “YOU HAD AN ACCIDENT, BUT RECEIVED NO INJURY.” A few days later, Maharajji came to his home. In front of the devotee’s mother, Maharajji said, “YOU HAD AN ACCIDENT. WHAT WERE YOU DOING AT THE TIME? YOU WERE SAYING ‘RAM, RAM, RAM’!” His mother said, “Maharajji, it’s all your grace, all your blessing.” Maharajji said, “NO, NO, IT’S YOUR BLESSING – YOUR ASHIRBAD AS A MOTHER.” The mother insisted that it was Maharajji’s blessing grace. At this point, Maharajji said, “IT’S NEITHER MINE NOR YOURS. IT IS JAGANNATH-JI’S. WHEN HE WAS ONE YEAR OLD, YOU GAVE HIM TO JAGANNATH. YOU PUT HIM AT THE LORD’S FEET, AND SAID, ‘THIS IS YOUR SON.’ ISN’T IT TRUE?” [-from Keshav Das, ed., “Barefoot in the Heart: Remembering Neem Karoli Baba,” pp. 75-76.] ॐ ♥ राम राम ♥ ॐ Jai Jai Jai Neem Karoli Baba Kripa karahu aavai sadbhava You unfailingly come to my aid when I chant these lines to you It is by Your Grace that I remember you Thank You for dissolving the sufferings of Saṃsāra In the Love and Grace that is your Be-ing Om Guru Om

Experiences with Maha Periyava: “I came there, did you not see me?” The following incident was related to me by a very learned Vedic scholar from Kasi. He had gone to the Mutt to have darshan of Maha Periyava and took with him some coconuts and fruits to be placed before Maha Periyava at the time of doing namaskarams. In the long queue there was a “Siddar” magician who was empty handed. The Vedic scholar asked him if he had brought any coconuts or fruits. The magician replied, “Wait and see”. When his turn came to perform namaskarams to the Paramacharya, he waved his hands and produced a basket of fruits. Maha Periyava smiled at him and asked him how long he had practiced this art. The magician replied that he had done this for many years and saying this produced some flowers also out of the thin air! Maha Periyava smiled again and looked at the fruits and flowers. Immediately they changed form and crumbled to dust. Try as he might, the magician could not succeed. Then Maha Periyava advised him to concentrate on learning something which would be really useful to the people. Another very moving incident was recounted to me by a doctor in 1956 when I was working in Stanley Hospital. He was a medical officer in the Indian Army fighting in Burma against the invading Japanese forces. He was wounded in the battle field and fell down, unconscious. The next thing he remembered was regaining his consciousness in the base hospital a few miles away. He asked his attendants what had happened to him. His orderly, an uneducated soldier who was accompanying the doctor said: “Sir, I was dazed when you fell down after being hit by gunfire. Suddenly a sadhu appeared in saffron clothes and asked me why are you standing doing nothing? Lift the doctor, put him on your shoulder and run to the base hospital”. So I carried you along for three miles and brought you here”. The doctor recovered and a few months later, after the end of the war, the doctor came to have darshan of Maha Periyava and told Him that he was wounded in the battle field. Before the doctor could continue with the story, Maha Periyava told him, “I came there, did you not see me?” I could still see the doctor’s face with tears streaming down his face as he related to me this story of how Maha Periyava saved his life. When a Forgotten Snake Omen got connected to a Praśna for the Kuladevtā: A Praśna Journey to Śrī Naga Subramanya A real Kuladevtā Praśna experience where signs of Sarpa, ancestors, temple direction, and an old snake incident pointed towards Śrī Naga Subramanya. There are some answers in life that do not come in one straight line. They come slowly. · A sign appears once. · Then another sign appears years later. · Then one day, everything joins together. This was one such Praśna. The question was simple, but very deep: Who is the Kuladevtā of this family? Kuladevtā is not just a family deity in the usual sense. In many families, the Kuladevata is the unseen protector. The deity carries the blessings of the lineage. When the connection becomes weak, the family may feel blocks, delays, confusion, health issues, marriage problems, or repeated struggles without a clear reason. In this case, the Praśna showed that the deity was powerful, masculine, and connected with a warrior form. There were repeated signs of a strong male deity, weapons, fire, forest, animals, snakes, and a royal or warrior-like presence. The Praśna also showed a link with Śaiva energy and a strong connection with Sarpa. Along with this, there were signs of ancestral unrest and family-level obstruction. The answer was not pointing to a soft or peaceful form. It was pointing to a deity with strength, command, protection, and sharp energy. The signs kept moving towards some form of Śrī Subramanya. The Deity Shown in the Praśna The Praśna gave the image of a deity connected with: Forest Animals Snakes Weapons Fire Mars-like energy A prince or warrior form A powerful male presence Peacock symbolism Kritika connection Kritika is deeply connected with Śrī Subramanya. The six Kritika mothers are said to have nourished him. Śrī Subramanya is also strongly connected with peacock, spear, snakes, youth, courage, and divine warfare. So, the signs were not random. They were repeating the same message in different ways. The Praśna was showing that the family deity was most likely Śrī Naga Subramanya Swamy. There was also a clear indication that the family was not only facing Sarpa-related issues. The Sarpa connection was tied to the Kuladevtā itself. This means the issue was not just “Sarpa dośa” in a simple way. It was more connected to the forgotten or weakened worship of the family deity who himself has a strong relation with Sarpa energy. Experiences with Maha Periyava: Compassion to the Nomad This happened at a village near Villupuram. A man from the narikurava (nomad) tribe who was camping there decided to commit suicide due to family complications. He came to the railway station and stretched himself on the platform, with the intention of jumping onto the rails when the next train came. The man slept in a place nearby thinking about this in his mind. He had a dream-like vision, wherein a saamiyar (sage) appeared before him and said, "You need not end your life. Come and see me. I shall grant you peace." He woke up with a start. A wave of freshness spread through his body. It occurred him to search for the sage who came in his dream. He sold the gold ring he had been wearing for a long time and started on his search using the cash he got for the ring. He went from village to village and had darshan of many sages, but none resembled the man who came in his dream. He did not give up though he was depressed. Maha Periyava was camping at that time in the village called Ekambarakuppam near Vellore. The nomad who came that side sighted the sage one evening. He stood before the camp entrance and started shouting excitedly: "Oh Saami! This is the Saami! You asked me to come! Come on, come out!" Sri Periyava called Rajammal and told her, "Find out who he is and serve him some food. I shall see him tomorrow morning." As Rajammal went to him and said, "Appa, who are you? I shall serve you food. Saami will see you in the morning and talk to you!" He repled, "Yes, Thaayi (mother)! I had a quarrel with my two wives. I married a third girl. One day I saw her mixing poison in the food she served to me. I was shattered and decided to end my life. At that time this Saamiyar came in my dream and asked me to see him." Periyava came out the next morning. The nomad immediately wailed, "Saami! You appear to me like my mother. I want to stay with you. Wherever you go, I will sweep and clean the place.and be with you always!" Periyava said, "Get back to your village properly. People will treat you with respect henceforth. You think of me whenever you face a difficult situation. Everything will be alright!" He gave the nomad fruits and blessed him. He also gave money collected from the people present there and sent him back to his place. This incident was narrated to me by Pudukottai Rajammal. When this happened, Trichy Subhalakshmi, Trichy Dharmambal and some other women were there with her. Experiences with Maha Periyava: There Will be a Large number of Guests Today! Sri Maha Periyava was travelling around the Akanda Kaveri region. One day He went to the coconut groves near the camping site. A number of crows were seen on the tops of the coconut trees. Periyava asked a boy who accompanied Him, "Shall I ask these crows to caw?" The boy did not know what to answer. "Look here", Periyava said and started cawing like the crows. All the crows echoed His cry in a chorus. Periyava said, "Now the crows are cawing. It indicates that there will be a large number of guests today. Ask them to prepare lots of food." The shishyas (assistants) were apprehensive that the food-preparations might go wasted if they cooked a lot. But then, what a wonder! It came to be known shortly that a meeting of the Congress Party was held in the nearby place. People who attended it came to know of Sri Maha Periyava's camp nearby and came over to have His darshan. Periyava directed everyone to have food and go. Finally, not a handful of cooked rice remained! Author: SriMatham Balu Mama Source: Maha Periyaval Darisana Anubhavangal Vol 2 Compiled by Jagadguru Sri Maha Periyava - Kanchi Paramacharya/Fb

Experiences with Maha Periyava: Sri Maha Periyava and Kamaraj Sri K.Kamaraj was a prominent National Leader and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu known for his simplicity and integrity. He played a major role in developing the infrastructure of the State of Tamil Nadu and worked to improve the quality of life of the needy and the disadvantaged. Whenever I met Kamaraj, he used to ask me without fail, "How is Periyava?" You should have His darshan at least once", I used to tell him. "Yes, I too feel the same way... But, I am not getting the right opportunity...", Kamaraj told me. Once I invited Kamaraj to have His darshan when he came to Kanchipuram for election related work. "Not today. It is not correct to have His darshan when I have actually come for election work! It will be respectful only if I exclusively come to meet Him alone!" A few months before he passed away, Kamaraj had darshan of Periyava at Kalavai (which is approximately 44 kms from Kanchi). On hearing that he was coming, Periyava told His kainkaryam people, "He is not keeping good health! Please do not make him walk for long distances. Let him come by car to the maximum extent possible. Please clear off stones and thorns on the path where he walks, so that he can walk comfortably! They had kept a stool for Kamaraj to be seated. When Periyava motioned him to sit, he refused to sit! No words were exchanged between Kamaraj and Sri Periyava for a long time. When it was time for him to leave, Kamaraj told Periyava: "People should live comfortably without any difficulties. Periyava should give His Blessings!" Periyava lifted His hands and blessed! And, Kamaraj did not keep the Prasadam that Periyava had given him on the car seat or in his pocket or did he give it to others to carry. He kept that Treasure in his own hands! The above is from famed writer Sri Bharanidharan's writings.

Shri Shani Dev who is the brother of Shri Yamarāja, is like this ash (in the end our body also turns into ashes). In the transit or during Śrī Śani daśa , it clears the impurity of your inner self like this ash. In this Dasha, Sade Sati etc. what is snatched from you, for which you cry and get frustrated, are actually your sins which are separated from you by Śrī Shani, so that you can again shine like a brand-new vessel. When this ash is heated many times, it becomes white, which is applied on the head, so that vice do not enter the head in the form of thoughts. This is the complete Sātvika form of Śrī Shani dev.
