June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month, and on June 15 we recognize World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Throughout the month, we'll be sharing information about recognizing the signs of elder abuse, how to report it, and the ways to prevent it.
ALT World Elder Abuse Awareness Month - June is a time to recognize, report, and prevent. What is elder abuse? Elder abuse is any action or failure to act by another person that causes harm or creates a risk of harm to an older adult. It is never the fault of the older adult. Signs to watch for: Unexplained bruises, cuts, or injuries. Sudden changes in finances. Withdrawl, depression, or anxiety. Poor hygiene or unkempt appearance, fear of a particular person, changes in will or important documents. Where to Report: In an emergency, call 911.
