Honoured to pay a courtesy call on the PS Forestry. We appreciate the fruitful deliberations and look forward to the feedback as we continue supporting the Greening Kenya agenda. Special thanks to Dr. Margaret,Mr. George Tarus, and the entire Forestry team for the warm reception
Principal Secretary for Forestry Mr. @GMugambi_CBS today held discussions with the Chairman of the GRO Foundation, Mr. Paul Mukalazi Flynn, during a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening collaboration in the implementation of the Government’s 15 Billion Trees Programme by 2032. The discussions focused on the Foundation’s plans to support large scale tree growing, landscape restoration and community based agroforestry initiatives, all aligned with the national target of restoring ecosystems and increasing tree cover across the country. The Principal Secretary commended the ideas presented, noting that they are consistent with Kenya’s long term forest restoration agenda. He emphasized the need for structured partnerships that enhance seedling production, improve tree survival rates, and promote sustainable land restoration outcomes under the 15 Billion Trees by 2032 initiative. He further briefed the delegation on the national agroforestry strategy, underscoring its role in integrating trees into agricultural systems to improve livelihoods, strengthen climate resilience and support food security. Also in attendance were the Secretary for Forest Development, Mr. George Tarus, Senior Scientist Dr. Margaret Kaigongi and other representatives from the GRO Foundation. #15BillionTrees #15BillionTreesBy2032 #15BWajibuWaKilaMkenya #JazaMiti

Today, we gave our considered opinion and recommendations to the Joint Committee on Finance & National Planning together with the Committee on Public Debt and Privatisation on the Proposed sale of 15% GoK stake in Safaricom PLC. Kenya must have a goal of getting the most optimal value out of our Public assets. The current transaction is buyer driven and they are taking advantage of Kenya. Block sales even of listed companies are not based on Market Pricemand it is naive for Kenya to be cornered to give out our most priced asset for a song. The transaction happening between Diageo and Japanese Asahi cements that proposition. The share is currently trading at Ksh 244 but they are transacting at Ksh 590 per share. Rea Vipingo, Amson & Bamburi and many others are examples that are recent. The Government should open the bid to International players and get the best value for our Country, Kenya. We commend the Committee led by Hon Shurie Abdi Omar and Hon Kuria Kimani for the cordial discussion we had. We still have a chance to avert the imminent loss of value & GoK must do the right thing. We are African and Africa is our Business..
