At the induction retreat for the newly appointed Cabinet Ministers at NALI-Kyankwanzi, Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet, Ms. Lucy Nakyobe, called on leaders to embrace integrity, discipline, accountability & results-driven leadership as Uganda advances towards attaining Upper Middle-Income Status.
She reminded Ministers that public office is a sacred trust and that citizens expect tangible improvements in service delivery, quality education, healthcare, jobs, infrastructure, jobs & household incomes not merely policies and plans.
Ms. Nakyobe emphasised that the era of leadership from behind office desks is over, urging Ministers to actively monitor government programmes, engage communities, ensure effective implementation, and deliver measurable impact through initiatives such as the
@PDMSecretariat,
@Emyooga_Program, and other wealth-creation interventions.
She further stressed the importance of collective responsibility, value for money, performance accountability, fighting corruption, innovation in public service, and a whole-of-government approach to national transformation.
βThe President has sounded a wake-up call. There is no room for complacency. Discipline is not optional, hard work is indispensable, and commitment is non-negotiable,β she noted.
The induction is equipping Cabinet members with the knowledge, skills and leadership tools necessary to strengthen governance, improve service delivery and accelerate Uganda's socio-economic transformation.
