Illegal settlements involving the Rohingya community have become increasingly difficult to manage and require a coordinated multi-agency and international approach, said PDRM.
Deputy IGP Ayob Khan said the issue cannot be addressed by police, Immigration and the MMEA alone, as it involves multiple stages from entry at sea to settlement in Malaysia.

MPKj has taken enforcement action against a four-storey flat in Sungai Tekali, believed to house about 400 Rohingya residents, after it was found to have been built without approval.
It said part of the structure sits on government reserve land while the rest encroaches on two private lots.
