🧑‍🏫 Les classes s'han acabat / Classes are over. And with the end of term, comes a reflection on the creative sessions that (I believe) were enjoyed most by my students: “El Guernica de Picasso”, “Grafitis en Bangor” & Languages for All "Frida Kahlo Gallery". ¡Buen trabajo! 🎨

I’ve seen languages open doors, build trust and create moments of genuine human connection that no algorithm could fully understand. Of course, AI has its place, but professional linguists still matter because meaning is human, context is human, and responsibility is human too.

He has a reputation for telling jokes of 'variable' quality in class but our senior lecturer in French Dr. Jonathan Ervine actually does research on humour. Here he is being interviewed about this topic in Paris last month as part of a project about humour and wellbeing.

FRIDA. Spanish students from our Languages for All evening provision had an interesting experience trying to spot Frida Kahlo’s paintings by identifying some of their key elements. Buen trabajo!🎨 Beth yw eich hoff waith gan Frida? What’s your favourite artwork by Frida?

Languages don’t just help you speak - they help you understand. They sharpen how you think, deepen your empathy, and open doors across every field and culture. English can take you far, but meeting people in their own language is what truly connects you to their hearts and minds.
