Audio/video presentation of where the Ottawa Gatineau Bank Street O-Train Subway would go. It would immediately boost ridership on Confederation Line 1 by giving residents access to our whole city. It’s time, our population is now 1,651,660 people #OttNews #OttCity

With Lansdowne 2.0 proceeding in Ottawa, the time for the Bank Street O-Train subway - connecting Billings Bridge Shopping Centre to Terrasse de la Chaudière in Gatineau - is now. This is especially true given the NHL Senators' proposed downtown arena.
We’re moving Ottawa forward! Lansdowne 2.0 is a smart, responsible plan that invests in one of the city’s biggest attractions, while protecting taxpayers and reducing risk. This project will give us a better, more accessible Lansdowne, upgraded infrastructure, vibrant public spaces, and new opportunities for events, sports, and public gatherings. It will support local businesses, create thousands of jobs, attract visitors, and put millions toward affordable housing. Lansdowne belongs to the people of Ottawa, and this plan ensures it will serve our city for decades to come.

We need a subway under Bank street from Wellington to South Keys. Lansdowne 2.0 would flourish.

Lansdowne is in a fantastic location for sports and events. If there is good transit. How have we accepted the status quo on Bank Street for decades? It's Ottawa's de facto main street, it requires a proper transit solution. Subway, streetcars, bus lanes... Anything.

Bank street is a prime place for a streetcar. You could run it all the way to south keys for another LRT connection. No parking on Bank would free up a lot of space.

Unlike the now barely used commuter LRT, I believe a line down Bank Street would be well used and take a lot of private vehicles out of the core.

The brutal irony here is we could really use a bank street LRT that goes from the core to billings would make Landsdown a more accessible site and better suited to hosting events and farmers market accessibility. @BankStOtrain

#ottawa needs a bold vision for transit. Bank Street is packed daily and only growing. A subsurface LRT along Bank would ease congestion, connect communities, and future-proof the city. Let’s stop patching and start planning for real. #OttLRT #BankStreet

Bc it’s not being built in the right place for the right reasons. The North-South LRT corridor was basically canceled to appease developers along East-West corridor who owned land. Like many of Jim Watson’s donors. Building a Bank street subway would alleviate many problems…

I don't know that there's actually much buzz around a Bank Street O-Train but the reasons listed here as to why one would be smart are right
The Bank Street O-Train Subway concept is popular because it tackles Ottawa’s biggest headaches: traffic gridlock, growing urban density, and the need for a fast, weather-proof way to get people across the city, especially as the population surges past 1.6 million. People love the idea because it would make commutes smoother—connecting Bank Street’s busiest neighborhoods, major event spots like Lansdowne, and even across the river into Gatineau, all while supporting local businesses and making the city more attractive for students, workers, and visitors. For Confederation Line 1, a Bank Street subway would be a true game-changer: it would give riders a convenient north-south link, take pressure off the east-west line during busy events, and make the overall transit network way more flexible and resilient by improving connections and cutting down on lengthy detours or bus transfers. Add in the fact that it’ll help Ottawa adapt to harsher winters and growing sustainability demands—plus widespread support from community leaders and sports fans—and it’s clear why so many are pushing for this to be Ottawa’s next big transit move.

It’s time for the Ottawa City Council to begin planning the Bank Street O-Train Subway. We have the @Senators moving downtown plus the action of @atletiOttawa & @REDBLACKS at the new Lansdowne
