Congratulations to @TheresaHeskins and the magnificent cast of musician-actors: a joyous, breathtakingly outstanding production, we were privileged to see it tonight. See it if you can, 3 more opportunities: memorable

Thank you to everyone at the #RMA150 conference, we hope you had a great conference and safe journey home. Special thank you to everyone who joined us in the British Library yesterday evening to celebrate our anniversary in style!
An early walk by the Severn in the Coalbrookdale Gorge, followed by a very stimulating symposium meeting of the literature and the industrial revolution network, @ahrcpress @IronbridgeGMT @English_Keele@KeeleHistory
Reminder: registration is open for our annual conference next month at Senate House and the British Library. Come for over 70 panels, nearly 200 presenters, 2 fantastic keynotes, and a big party to celebrate our 150th anniversary! rma150.wordpress.com/registr…
Very proud to deliver the keynote lecture as the Macgeorge Visiting Speaker at the University of Melbourne. Looking forward to the symposium, Musical Nationbuilding and Cultural Exchange in Interwar France and Australia. @LeedsUniAHC @UniMelb
SOS call for @GoldsmithsUoL Leadership. The savings gained at end of July will be spent, and then some, by October. By then, it will have been cheaper to do nothing. It is illogical. Making big decisions in a panic never leads to good outcomes. A final call: please think again.
The details of what is happening in Music at Goldsmiths are brutal. As things stand they will lose a collaborative Leverhulme Doctoral College grant (7 funded PhDs) and an AHRC grant. Staff FTE reduced by 35%. Negative impacts on curriculum and pastoral care cannot be avoided.
Universities are facing a financial crisis before the new academic year with an analysis finding that scores will have to cut courses, shut departments and put thousands of jobs at risk ⬇️ thetimes.com/uk/politics/art…
Registration is now open for this year's RMA Annual Conference, 11-13 September at Senate House (University of London) and the British Library: rma.ac.uk/2024/07/04/registr…

It was an honour to give the keynote lecture at the plenary conference of the Society for Musicology in Ireland at the University of Galway! I was also delighted to be awarded Corresponding Membership of the society by the outgoing President, John O’Flynn.
It was poignant to be in Galway, where I have strong family connections. For decades they have talked about establishing a music department there. Thanks to Aidan Thomson, there is a thriving department now. It is a proud moment for Irish musicology on its 21st birthday.
I love #blueplaque spotting, this pairing tells me that Dorothy Richardson and George Jacob Holyoake lived next door to each other, if not quite at the same time @GreenBowlerHat !
