Thankful for opportunities and lessons learned along the way. “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

When you bring in a new rule there is always something else that is not thought about, or not addressed. This year it’s ABS. We have seen extremely inconsistent umpiring when it comes to granting or not granting challenges…. (They are learning also)

These are the issues when people think “just add a rule for that, or why don’t you just do that etc.” It’s not that easy (as much as we have the keyboard warriors think it is). Enough w/ the addition of more rules. Just go to the game, enjoy a family or friend experience and 🤫

We have seen catchers have passed balls and after picking up the ball and seconds going by, still being granted an ABS challenge. We have also seen a split second, maybe a slow moving arm to the top of the helmet to challenge (but still instant), and it not be granted….

There are a lot of coaches who are very good at training kids. They know their drills. They understand programming. They can run a great gym session. But training isn't coaching. My old friend Bill Sweetenham puts it perfectly: "Coaching is neck up. Training is neck down." Training is the science — sets, reps, drills, programs. Coaching is the art — inspiration, connection, belief. Making someone feel like anything is possible. Most coaches are good at neck down. The great ones master neck up. Which one are you spending more time on? Check out waynegoldsmith.substack.com/

Curt Cignetti with a masterclass on consistency and standards. "Every play has a life and history of its own...Not affected by success. Not affected by failure. On to the next play. Never satisfied. Playing to a standard, not the circumstances of the game." Every moment is another rep in honoring your standard. Stay anchored to your standard and your consistency becomes your separator. 📹: AFCA

Kyle Hendricks walks away from the game knowing he had a very good career, but above that, I hope he knows he was one of the best people the game has seen; pure class and a true gentleman who many should aspire to be, congrats on retirement, Professor

Coach Leach used to say “all sacks are on the quarterback.” As a player, that used to piss me off — because we all know that's not true. Sometimes the protection breaks down, a back misses a chip, or a tackle gets beat. But looking back, it was great coaching! It was about ownership and improving the situation. If you’re a quarterback and you view every sack as being on YOU, you’ll look for ways to improve it: -Change the play call. -Adjust the protection. -Check the ball down. -Scramble. -Throw it away. But if you shrug it off as “the O-line’s fault,” you give your power away. You can only improve when THEY do — and that keeps you stagnant. The same principle applies in other area’s for QB’s. A receiver drops a ball? -Take ownership. Ask yourself: Did I have the right pace? Was it a good location? Was it the right read? Did I spend time with him after practice working that route? A missed signal? -Take ownership. Did I communicate it clearly? Did I hold an extra signal meeting? When you take this mindset — “it’s on me” — you stay focused on how you can grow, not on who you can blame. Now, bring that into your own field. What are the “sacks” in your business, career, or relationships that you can start taking ownership of today? Because ownership always leads to improvement — and excuses always lead to stagnation. coachlukefalk.com/themindstr… #MindStrength #Leadership
