Yesterday we got to go to
@UKParliament, where there was an event to celebrate five years of
@QMULResilience.
At the invitation of Sir Stephen Timms MP, the event was a chance to reflect on the incredible work the Unit has done over the past five years - deepening our understanding of young people’s mental health and resilience through research at
@QMUL.
We supported the creation of the Youth Resilience Unit because we believe young people’s mental health needs more attention, more understanding, and more investment.
According to
@Rethink_ , three quarters of mental health conditions begin before the age of 18, and yet research focused specifically on young people remains limited.
The Youth Resilience Unit was set up to help change that. Its work looks not only at mental illness, but also at resilience: how young people cope, recover, and stay well.
It was inspiring to hear about the impact the Unit has already had, and we’re proud to have supported its journey over the last five years. Big shout out to Professor Jennifer Lau, Professor
@dennisougrin and everybody at the Youth Resilience Unit for an amazing event.
