🇬🇷 Christos Tzolis data report
➕ what's good
simply incredible output data - realized and expected g a, shots, chances created, efficiency of those actions... the whole lot
to that effect: one of only six u23 forwards w/ a 0.4 npxG & 0.4 xA season w/ 1,350 minutes in any comp; peers for this filter include Michael Olise and Kylian Mbappe
excellent runner/carrier in space
touch dominator in the final phase... usage is earned and its especially important for young players
✖️ what's not
- while the numbers in space (prg carry distance, long receptions, etc) are great, dribbling data lags behind
- not especially strong or oop motivated
💭 thoughts on how it comes together
This reminds me of an Alejandro Garnacho or Bradley Barcola data profile... gaudy output values, high ratio of prg receptions, prg carrying is excellent, touch volume in the final phases is dominant... but the dribbling numbers are meh in volume, success rate, and in terms of turning take ons to self-created shots; also I don't love the low defensive action and aerial duel numbers.
How much of the high usage/output brilliance is a product of being a class above the league, while playing for one of the dominant teams of the division? how much of the oop concerns & poor dribbling figures are just because that's not necessary in Brugge's set up?
I can certainly see the appeal to a profile like Tzolis, but for me, wingers that create their own shots and show high physical or oop levels are more appealing, especially for the Premier League. That is, unless he's already a mostly finished article, in which case ignore age/projecting ability comments and simply ask yourself how well/quickly can he scale nearly 1 expected g a from Belgium to the PL.
