BHI trains healthcare providers in HPV screening and treatment methods specifically geared for use in low-resource settings. We’ve trained healthcare providers who have used these skills throughout El Salvador, China, Guatemala, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic.

Cervical cancer can often be found early, and sometimes even prevented, by having regular screening tests. If detected early, #cervicalcancer is one of the most successfully treatable cancers.

We work to advance technology based on the needs of cervical cancer professionals working in low resource settings and partnering with engineers to help build low-cost, portable, effective, and easy to use equipment.
BHI traveled to Antigua and Barbuda and met with top leaders of the Ministry of Health and Environment, medical staff of the local #cervicalcancer task force, hospitals and laboratories to discuss the launch of the cervical cancer screening and treatment pilot program on Sept. 1.

Cervical cancer screening may include Pap tests, testing for a virus called human papillomavirus (HPV), or both. In both tests, cells are taken from the cervix and sent to a lab for testing.
