Booking on for my last operational shift on the falls car, we have reached the final weekend of the service, mixed emotions with what could have been for such an amazing service, opportunity missed! I’m leaving the trust after 32 years to explore similar roles in the community

Back in early 2019 as the service evolved we attracted interest from the local news who spent a day with us to find out more about our joint working and the subsequent success! 🎥 The feedback was amazing! 👍

This is where it all started on the 1st April 2017, in our first year we visited 691patients, 82% discharged on scene, the new joint working Paramedic and therapist was taking shape!! 👍

'An elderly person (aged 80 ) falls every ten seconds in the UK, according to analysis by TakingCare Personal Alarms. This means around six elderly people fall every minute in the UK, equating to around 8,500 falls a day.' A shocking statistic. We need to do more @nfcc.

It has suddenly dawned on us we only have 6 weeks left of this totally amazing service so we treated ourselves to coffee! #hopeful a new service will be equally successful in responding quickly to some of most vulnerable in the community 🤞🏻

Sadly as mentioned in a number of replies SWAST are not re-tendering for the service from March 2024, they are looking at an alternative model county wide. We are working closely with ⁦@NHSBSWICB⁩ to continue providing this fantastic service we as so passionate about 👍👍
