The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Sen. the Hon. Kim Wilkerson, JP, outlined the importance of Bermuda’s Youth Justice Strategic Plan. The plan brings together government and community resources to take a more co-ordinated and preventative approach to youth anti-social behaviour, with a focus on early intervention and support for families. Key measures include the reestablishment of the Juvenile Treatment Court Programme and strengthening the Parental Responsibility framework to better support young people and their families. The aim is clear, to address the root causes of behaviour, create positive pathways, and ensure more young people are supported to succeed and stay out of the criminal justice system.

To mark World Ocean Day, a new installation at Government House highlights the issue of ocean pollution and the importance of environmental stewardship. “Whaleen,” a life-size sculpture of a young humpback whale, has been created using more than 1,000 pieces of marine debris collected from Bermuda’s shores. Led by Bermudian artist Hannah Horsfield and supported by community volunteers, students, and environmental organisations, the project highlights both the beauty of our marine environment and the ongoing challenge of plastic pollution. This collaborative effort reflects the strength of community action and the role we all play in protecting our oceans.
