Conversations about rethinking and re-evaluating help children understand the importance of humility. At a certain point in their lives, children go through a phase of saying, “I know… I know.” Whatever you try to teach them, the response is often, “I know.” For a time, this attitude is natural.
However, if it continues beyond the age of around eight, children need guidance. In such instances, sit down with them and share a moment when you thought you knew something but later realized you didn’t. Present it as a story, and the lesson will stay with them. If this habit resurfaces during adolescence, try offering indirect advice and gentle hints.
