Leaders experience emotional distress when they can’t help with staffing and work overload. So focus also on giving staff voice, justice and fairness, better conditions, self rostering, improving teamwork, better supervision meetings and education and training. That helps.

When asked to review care plans, I regularly change “challenging behaviour” to “behaviour that presents as challenging to staff” “Challenging behaviour” is often a persons way of expressing themselves. It’s not challenging to them, but to those caring for them. Thoughts below?⬇️

It's in the bag after a lot of work...great to hear this eve that the chapter on spinal cord injury and disorders that I was lead author on has been accepted by the editors from the Oxford Handbook of Rehabilitation @MAMeadePhD ..just the proofs to go, can't wait to see in print!

Why we need to spend so much time in the early days of a change initiative getting people on board & building shared purpose. We want people to be "investors" at the start of the change, not "buying in" down the road. We'll save ourselves so much effort later on. Graphic: @tnvora
