Irish taxpayers have covered his longterm welfare, accommodation via the International Protection Accommodation Services system, medical care including 2021 brain tumour surgery and related complications, legal proceedings, interpreter support, and now the ongoing trial costs. Broader asylum/IPAS spending runs into billions annually, with individuals like him representing multi-year direct provision and benefits dependency. This case highlights sustained public expense for a long-term non-working resident amid serious criminal charges.
