In our recent study with @GoldmanLab @kenividilaseris we used #EPRspectroscopy DEER/PELDOR to monitor Conformational Ensembles of membrane PPases under multiple inhibitors/conditions & detected gating assymetry. Great effort by @DrAnokhiShah @mayue3691 @_katiehardman @UK_EPR_NRF

Using Dongmei's and Alan's histidine knockout mutants and RIDME distance measurements we could show that of two dominant distances one is diminished in H3A and H9A each. However, H288A only leaves a short distance populations. H67A and H247 show no effect.

🥁 Thus the RIDME/EPR cluedo suggests that the three main sites for copper(II) form a triangle with vertices at copper-ions coordinated to H3, H9 and H288. Especially the last one was a surprise. 🧲

Chemicals regulation in the UK is broken. Lead pipes were banned in water supplies in 1970 but it’s still affecting UK residents today.
We are campaigning for a national Chemicals Agency to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past – there’s #NoTimeToWaste
