I officially qualified to appear on the ballot for Florida’s 9th Congressional District, and I was honored to have my grandmother, Mildred Butler, by my side as I signed the paperwork. At 97 years young, she has seen nearly a century of American history, and she has always been an example of faith, hard work, family, and perseverance. Those values helped shape who I am and why I’m running for Congress. As a ninth-generation Floridian, I understand that we don’t inherit this state from our ancestors—we borrow it from our children and grandchildren. That’s why I’m running: to protect our way of life, strengthen our communities, and ensure the next generation has even greater opportunities than the ones we’ve been blessed with.
