That hasn't been the case for a couple of years. That dedication is now devoted to his family.
After two Tests, and with a nice break between matches, he's concretely decided he much prefers time with his family than his time hitting balls, and fair enough too.

Think this all shows why Brook has been overlooked for the Test captaincy in favour of Root, despite being the VC. It wouldn't be a good look and could come off somewhat hypocritical.

Root's a proper pro, but elsewhere there seems to be an astonishing lack of professionalism in the England squad. For all of McCullum's good vibes coaching and building of a player led culture, there's zero accountability from those same players regarding their off field antics.

Solomon Islands Prime Minister Matthew Wale cancelled his media engagements in Auckland half an hour after they were meant to begin.
He received a media briefing from his PR who told him the China relationship would be on the agenda, and then decided to pull out.

I spoke to retiring @White_Ferns legend Sophie Devine ahead of the T20 World Cup next month.
Never got to don the whites, but she'd love to see NZ back playing Test cricket in the coming years.
