Texas can't afford to take critical infrastructure security on the honor system. At the Senate Business & Commerce hearing, ERCOT acknowledged that companies largely self-attest compliance with supply chain security requirements, and there's little independent verification. When it comes to our electric grid, trust is important. Verification is essential. Protecting Texas infrastructure isn't just an energy issue - it's a national security issue.

This day, #June4th marks the anniversary of the #TiananmenSquareMassacre. I have stood in Tiananmen Square. Today, there will be no public remembrance in Communist China for the students and citizens who lost their lives while peacefully demanding freedom and reform. There will be no official moment of silence, no public gathering, and no opportunity to openly challenge the government. Their sacrifice reminds us never to take our freedoms for granted. As Americans, we are blessed with the rights of free speech, free assembly, and the ability to petition our government without fear. Let us remember those who stood for liberty and give thanks for the freedoms we continue to enjoy in this country.

After 20 years of weak, ineffective representation under Hubert Vo, Democrat voters have now nominated a candidate who offers more of the same failed direction for HD149. Our district deserves better than absent leadership, rising costs, neglected infrastructure, and politicians who show up only during election season. Darlene Breaux may have replaced Hubert Vo on the ballot, but she has not presented a serious plan to solve the problems families and small businesses face every day. This race is about accountability, public safety, affordability, infrastructure, and leadership that actually shows up and gets results. Republicans are united, energized, and ready to compete hard this November to bring practical, common-sense leadership back to HD149 and keep Texas strong. JOIN US! bennettforstaterep.com/

I just finished reading Killer Angels by Michael Shaara, a historical novel about the Battle of Gettysburg in the American Civil War. This Memorial Day, I think about my family who fought on both sides of this conflict both believing that God was on their side, both believing that they were fighting for their freedom. One side, however, was also fighting for the freedom of the slaves in our country. This Memorial Day. I remember those of my family that have fought in wars from the American Revolution to now and I’m thankful that all men are free under the laws of this country. I think about the decisions that must be made in the upcoming Texas Legislative session, and I pray I have the courage to live up to those that have gone before me. To be willing to risk my life and my fortune to that end. May we all have that courage.

Texas cannot afford to wait until the next crisis to strengthen the grid. We need practical, long-term solutions that increase reliable power generation and reduce strain on the system. One approach discussed in Austin: incentivizing large data centers and major users to bring their own power and contribute excess generation back to the grid. Reliable energy infrastructure is essential for Texas families, businesses, and our future growth. That's one of the goals I'll work to accomplish as the next State Representative for House District 149.

Energy reliability is a critical issue for Texas. We need to get serious about strengthening dispatchable power that keeps the grid running when it matters most. That means valuing reliable energy correctly and taking practical steps to stabilize costs for Texas families. Learn more about how we're working for House District 149! bennettforstaterep.com/

Honored to stand with Houston’s Vietnamese community in commemorating the Fall of Saigon. What began as hardship and displacement has become a story of resilience, growth, and lasting contribution to our city. Over the past 50 years, this community has helped shape Houston into a stronger, more vibrant place, built on hard work, faith, and a commitment to freedom. We stand together in remembering the past and in supporting those who seek opportunity, stability, and the ability to build a better future for the next generation.

Appreciated the opportunity to speak at the SD17 Conservative Forum last night and engage directly on the issues that matter to our communities. We had a strong discussion on Texas grid reliability and what still needs to be done to strengthen our infrastructure. One comment I heard repeatedly stood out: people are ready to support an engineer focused on solving problems, not a politician. That’s exactly the approach I’ll bring to representing HD149.

Join us this Thursday, April 9, at the SD17 Conservative Forum! It's an important opportunity to engage directly on the issues impacting our communities and the path forward to the runoff election in May and the the general election in November. I’ll be providing an update on Texas electric grid reliability, including recent findings from the Senate Business & Commerce Committee and what still needs to be addressed to strengthen our energy infrastructure and protect our communities. This is a critical issue that requires clear understanding and serious, solutions-focused leadership.
