We are not @BPUParents. Like the Berkeley Parents Union, though, we are anonymous and kinda shady.

A Different Berkeley Parents Union retweeted
The BPU swears up and down they’re not anti-union or anti-teacher, but one of their most vocal online defenders/supporters is also the voice of Open Schools Berkeley, and he is very clear on where he stands re: Berkeley’s teachers:

So BPU supporters want to debate that ... Black Lives Matter? (Oh, and that teachers deserve raises ... ) @TaplinTerry @RashiKesarwani @loridroste you agree?
A reminder that @ReichiLee4BUSD’s supporters (and @BPUParents leaders/members) claim to care about the achievement gap but oppose measures that would help address it - incl teacher pay increases and anti-racist/BLM programs 🤨 The best people!

Quick reminder on this lovely Sat before election day -- the parent faction putting all their chips behind @ReichiLee4BUSD for school board is the same faction affiliated with @GuerillaMomz 👇👇

.@TaplinTerry may prefer a different candidate and that’s certainly his right, but it’s quite appalling to see a public official be so openly disrespectful and dismissive of these two highly qualified candidates and the teachers who endorsed them.

You have to admire their commitment to anonymity

👀 This is a great reason for @BPUParents to stay as anonymous as they can. It's not about fearing for their physical safety, it's about hiding their true agenda under the guise of an innocuous-sounding group. Smart move @LindsayNofelt !
Why is it important to know who @BPUParents leaders are? BPU’s website says they “deeply respect” teachers but its leader Lindsay Nofelt *opposed* modest bonus/increase for teachers, as did @LauraBabitt. Isn’t this info relevant? How is this showing “deep respect” for teachers?

Ok, it's here, the @GuerillaMomz - @BPUParents challenge! Some BPU folks recently expressed horror that anyone would think @GuerillaMomz was behind their efforts just because their anonymous tactics and philosophy about schools was exactly the same as each other. /1

It's that easy! One caveat is that BPU needs to disclose its donors. First time around, they tried to get away with not listing them but got caught (apparently). /3

So, BPU, if you don't want us to think you are associated with @GuerillaMomz, just show us that they are not one of your donors. Easy! /end

We too expect that those who are stewards over the Berkeley Elections Reform Act will do their part to sanction the Berkeley Parents Union for their illegal campaign practices, and we make this statement on behalf of all 23 of our Twitter followers.

This is a great question. Our policy is that retweets=anonymous endorsements. Anonymous endorsements, as @BPUParents knows well, are the best kind because nobody has to know your true motives. We will consider including this in our bio and we appreciate the question.

i see that you don't have "retweets≠endorsement" in bio. may i assume "retweets=endorsement"?

Hey @BPUParents and @LindsayNofelt - we know you know how to file a campaign complaint. There is a group calling itself the Berkeley Parents Union who is illegally putting yard signs in median strips. Do you want to file the complaint or should we?

@BPUParents please come get your signs from the street in our neighborhood. We don’t need more garbage here and your excessive signs are falling down. I’ve already seen two at Oregon & Mabel, and someone tried to leave another one in my yard as trash.

This is juvenile attack on the Berkeley Parents Union that we would never make; we are only willing to retweet it.

This happens to be literally true.

Hey @allymarkovich did you know this? Thanks for your article, but VP Babitt kinda hoodwinked you into writing this: "Babitt, who is not a member but played a key role early on in connecting parents and advising the group" even though the BPU was literally her idea.
