Published impact of low grain protein on wheat seedling root/shoot vigour. Protein dilution with higher yields (and high urea prices) may conspire to drive 2022 grain proteins down. Retain high protein grain from best paddocks for 2023 sowing

These results are further confirmation of why we have been a strong advocate of reco’ing a Roundup Clethodim mix. RR Canola is the only crop type we can do this in WA. Straight cleth in TT or straight Roundup in RR will only speed up the selection process correct @PBoutsalis ?

Combination of Clethodim Roundup Ready Performance Liquid on ryegrass resistant to Dims, Glyphosate or both. Photo is of 12 populations. Each pot is a single population. The location of each pot in each tray is the same population.
Ryegrass from WA, SA, Vic and NSW chosen.

In fallow we have found atrazine prior the break of season has been awesome at reducing weed #’s and biomass while still using Gly during the winter to keep tidy and then Paraquat to tidy up at the end has been working ok. Will leave Gly Cleth alone in fallow by the sounds.

Generally speaking - canola planted prior to the cyclone (11/4) is firing in WA. On this farm This 4022P on fallow or lupin stubble is sitting on between 25 and 46kg N. It’s about to get a dose of urea prior to be being too late for the spreader due to the canola about to bolt.

Ripper response to banded K at DKT/Nutrien trial north of Cunderdin!! Will be interesting to see if additional K applied post will push yield and quality further in the right direction...

Anybody had experience with Hydrosmart units? How well do they reduce salt content? Are they trouble free and reliable? Do they last?
Have a bore with high salt and would like to use it for the garden including veggies and fruit trees.

Righto, next question. What’s the options for RO setups out there to correct high Sodium Chloride levels ?
Ideally located in WA for service/support. 1000L/day should be plenty. Potable quality would be an advantage.

Jurien lupins dry sown on 7th May. On the left is not inoculated. On the right was inoculated by sprinkling expired dry peat into the air seeder bin as it was filling up. We usually do things properly but an interesting trial.
