After several weeks of tough hunting I FINALLY got it done today in Illinois on a public land buck. Feeling thankful & blessed for sure. Now back over to MO for the weekend see what happens there!
Bought this E bike last fall to hunt off of as there’s lots of public hunting areas near our cabin that don’t allow motorized vehicles. Took it up the creek today to see what it can do off road, it’s definitely impressive. It’s an Aventon Aventure 2.
16 years ago today I married a woman on the beach in FL that would forever change my life for the better. I’m so incredibly fortunate, happy anniversary to my beautiful wife Laura!
Just saw an absolute hammer about 45 minutes ago when I was leaving the cabin. He posed quite nicely for a few seconds. 112 days to go still for the IL archery opener! 🦌 🦌
Just got to the cabin for the weekend. Our daughter is at church camp so we have some rare “adult time”. Looking forward to some trails on the side by side, cold beers 🍻, grilling, maybe a swim in the creek. Have a great weekend everyone! 🇺🇸
Absolutely slumming tonight , venison backstrap skewers & blackbuck antelope burgers on the smoker with royal oak charcoal pellets. Definitely @MeatEaterTV around here.
Good morning ☀️. Jet lag kicked my ass, but was so good to get in my own bed last night. Dorothy said it best, there’s no place like home 🏡 ! A couple of bucks putting on nice inches near our cabin & another behind our house yesterday evening. 🦌 🦌
The Royal Livingstone Hotel in Zambia is actually inside Mosi-oa-Tunya National park & the animals roam free around the grounds. It’s 5 star & simply beautiful along the Zambezi, a great place to end our trip. Gotta watch your step though! Heading home today 🇺🇸
Our final expedition here in Zambia, a game drive in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park along the Zambezi River. The main focus is up close experience with White Rhinos. Poaching of these beautiful animals is so bad they are protected 24/7 with armed military even inside a park!
Sunset cruise last night on the Zambezi River on the African Queen. This was a very nice excursion on a beautiful boat. Drinks, appetizers while viewing several big crocs and hippos. Swim at your own risk ! 🐊 🐊 🦛 🦛
Arrived in Zambia yesterday, got some good rest and headed to Victoria Falls today. Immediately got why these falls on the border with Zimbabwe are one of the seven wonders of the world. Managed to get the “armchair” before my phone got soaked!
Pilanesberg National Park was gorgeous. Lodge was great, saw lots of animals and enjoyed a “Boma Dinner”, with BBQ & authentic African music by the fires. The terrain reminds me of the western USA. On to Zambia & Victoria Falls tomorrow.
Hunting has concluded, time for some sightseeing & photos of all things South Africa. Walking right up close to some of these creatures is just surreal, I often wonder why god chose to put so many beautiful, unique animals on this continent.
On our last day here a VERY proud dad moment occurred. With the encouragement & expertise of our incredible PH, our daughter got her very first big game animal. Words can’t express the emotions, so proud of my girl on a perfectly placed shot on a beautiful white Blesbuck.
When we decided to return to Africa, completing a spiral slam was a priority & this beautiful Eland bull sealed the deal for me. A nice bonus was this very thick horned Water Buck, which are really difficult to spot in the thick grass here.
We had successful stalks on 2 more spiral horned beauties, a very mature Cape Bushbuck & a gorgeous Nyala bull. The colors and markings on these plains animals are stunning. The weather is freezing in morning & night & hot in the day like a desert.
62 trips around the sun & so blessed to spend this birthday with my family in Africa. I’ve always wanted a beautiful Sable bull & this prince of Africa definitely didn’t disappoint! They have great Impala as well. This is a terrific safari outfitter.
3.5 hour drive up into Limpopo province today to camp. Place looks amazing, wife & daughter approve. Got out this evening, saw a decent Sable bull but too late to shoot. Good Kudu bull as well but already have a good one.
Drinks & dinner tonight at Africa Sky Guest House in Johannesburg. A big starting and stopping point for folks heading out on safari & returning. Excellent food, service, rooms, & transportation to airport.
