Like it or not, X is moving towards video. It's been happening silently, but the new quote-tweet-with-video feature is the most obvious attempt yet. Video views jumped over 40% year-over-year in 2024, the platform is actively rewarding video creators with more reach, while suppressing external links to other platforms. X is becoming structured for video, and it's probably time you restructured too.
And if there's one thing crypto has taught us, it's that timing is everything. Think of when Bitcoin went mainstream, think of the NFT season of 2021. Those who were early made the most, financially and influentially. Michael Saylor, Wale.Moca, they saw a window, capitalised on it, and are still benefitting now. That same window has opened a sliver for video on X, and showing up early here means something different than it usually does in crypto.
Because this space runs on anonymity, and anonymity has always been a double-edged sword. People don't trust who they don't know, and video closes that gap in a way a thread never could. There's a certain strength to having a face to the name. I've personally seen the difference in how people engage when they can see you.
You don't need a studio. What's being rewarded isn't polish, but presence. You've got opinions, you've got a platform, and the window is still open. The only question is whether you're there when it closes.
taking a look at where X wants to be headed
it'd be a safe bet to get comfortable with video content creation
be it clipping, talking heads or video essays stay ahead of the curve
