I had GROK put together a consensus top 25 post-spring college football, aggregating all the major media outlets and analysts. Needless to say as you'll see in this thread, this wasn't even close to what happened during the 2025 season.

Big 12 successfully checkmated Cody Campbell Tech. Best for all involved.
Sources: Texas Tech transfer quarterback Brendan Sorsby plans to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft. Amid the legal wrangling over his NCAA eligibility after admitting he bet on sports, he intends to head to the NFL.

Tom Izzo on Michigan State losing their president and AD 😳 "I'll be very honest: I can't stand what's going on... I've had it. This is self-inflicted. We just lost the best president that's ever been here... I'm very upset about it. And I'm sick of it."

This is a conference saying that one donor at one school, especially one with zero historical significance to the conference, is going to determine whether or not said conference can enforce its own rules. This is also the TT admin off-ramp they probably/quietly want.
NEWS: The Big 12 has filed a legal complaint in federal court against Texas Tech & the Texas AG, seeking declaratory judgement and a preliminary injunction to enforce its bylaws and potentially sanction the school for its plans to play Brendan Sorsby. yhoo.it/43BcJzA

Oregon has maybe best roster heading into the season, but schedule no cakewalk. Ohio State playing the roughest schedule we can remember in recent memory as well.

COLUMN: Is 2026 finally Oregon's year to break through in the College Football Playoff? Past playoff disappointments shaped the narrative, but this roster may rewrite it. (via @AriWasserman) Read: on3.com/news/narrative-buste…

This is becoming the most disastrous offseason in modern college sports history: 1) becoming clearer government solution to player compensation structure isn’t happening 2) non-rev sports already being cut, there will be more 3) players gambling on their own team now ok

The guy promoting “save college sports” paradigm-shifting legislation, is also threatening to burn it down if a decent but not great quarterback — who broke the cardinal rule of American team sports — doesn’t get away with violating the integrity of sports results.
News: Cody Campbell says Texas Tech would take legal action if schools or conferences decide not to play the Red Raiders. "Guess what? That’s collusion. That’s an antitrust violation. So have fun with that one, guys" he told @DanDakich. More: nytimes.com/athletic/7349097…

Commissioners Greg Sankey of the SEC and Tony Petitti on the Big Ten say, in a statement, that they held productive conversations today with Sen. Ted Cruz, and while they continue to oppose the bill in its current form, they plan to keep working toward a solution.

Some guys really like to talk about something that could happen and who they might play…. Actually it’s pretty easy just join a conference 🤷‍♂️👊🤷‍♂️
Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua, who used to run NBC Sports, tells senators that the best way to make the most money from TV rights is a super league. Then he says he doesn't want a super league. Then he offers a sample super league schedule.

Here is Nick Saban telling you that Alabama was breaking the rules and paying players the entire time he (and the SEC) was dominating the sport. Coincidentally, I’m sure, he quit once paying players became above board so he could no longer hoard talent as he was under the table.
Nick Saban, discussing collectives, outlines what Alabama was working with Says he had $2.7 million in his first year of NIL, then $7 million, and then $10 million. After he retired, he said it jumped to $17 million, then $24 million. “Now you have schools at $40 million”

No. 1 UCLA is out. The Bruins fell 6-5 to Saint Mary's in 10 innings. UCLA is the only No. 1 national seed to lose its tournament opener. A quarter of UCLA's losses this season came in the Westwood Regional. One of the most stunning collapses in college baseball history.

Another interesting $$ note from my Q&A with USC AD Jen Cohen: Cohen said that the CSC/NIL GO model values brand deals at USC at “2.5 times more than the national average”
While costs explode across college athletics, USC AD Jen Cohen tells @latimes that athletic revenue at USC is up 60%, sponsorship deals have doubled and donors have grown the department’s coffers by over 700% since she took over as AD latimes.com/sports/usc/story…

NEW: Indiana's Curt Cignetti says College Football is in danger if something doesn't change soon: “The market is pretty expensive — it’s scary. It’s scary. I think players should get paid. But something’s going to have to be done in the next 12 to 24 months, or universities might not be able to handle this. College football won’t exist the way we’re going right now.” (via @ColinMcMahon31) on3.com/college/indiana-hoos…

Here are your choices, because we’re not going back (as much as I’d like to) but that’s not how human nature works. 1) Expand access to playoff to create a middle class. 2) Create super league and leave lots of schools/kids behind. Those are your only realistic outcomes here.
