Truly, if our love for God is genuine, it cannot help but flow into a love for people.

Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends. Pr.17:9 …forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Eph.4:32

On expository #preaching and Bible reading: If [the preacher] preaches topically, [the congregation] will think topically and read topically. If he preaches exegetically as an expositor, then they will think exegetically and read exegetically.” – Jason Meyer, Preaching

Pastors: The same sun that melts ice also hardens clay and the gospel either humbles or hardens the human heart, so a preacher should be prepared to expect both. Vance Havner

Anyone who's tended a rosebush knows the thorns get your attention long before the blooms do. They prick, they catch, they draw blood. And it's tempting — so tempting — to define the whole plant by what hurts. But hope insists on a different focus. It doesn't deny the thorns. It just refuses to let them be the final word. Beneath every painful season, God is cultivating something fragrant. Something worth waiting for. Something that wouldn't exist without the very soil that feels so hard right now. What "fragrance of hope" are you holding onto today?

Whatever is written in the Bible, however strange the passage might seem, is better than anything our own wisdom could produce. Our cleverness breeds thin gruel. The Bible, for all its riddles and savagery, serves raw meat. Take it or starve.

God may bless us with drought - yes, I said bless. He may withhold success from us, so that we find identity in him alone. He may allow our dream to die, to help us discover a vision for his kingdom instead. He may allow us to experience spiritual dehydration, only to produce a deeper thirst for relationship with him.

It's very tempting to slide into an autonomous and self-sufficient lifestyle, so I've trained myself to start each day with three prayers. Reciting these before I even get out of bed reminds me of my need for community: 1. "Jesus, I'm a person in desperate need of help today." 2. "God, in your grace, send your helpers my way." 3. "Spirit, give me the humility to receive the help when it comes."

THE SECRET HEBREW WORD God told Noah to cover the Ark with "pitch" (tar) to keep the deadly floodwaters out. The original Hebrew word for pitch used here is Kopher. The mind blowing part? Kopher is the exact same root word translated later in the Bible as Atonement. The Ark was sealed by "atonement" to keep the judgement out.

"Legacy isn't built cheaply or easily. We're building something our kids can see to guide their own lives. If the enemy breaks us, he uses our story to break them. We are fighting for all of us." —Pastor Bill Read the Blog: bit.ly/4ug6DQ3 #Legacy #Family #Faith
