Just one of the many reasons I love Donna Walker. Almost 49 years of marriage (and yes, we were young) but four wonderful children and soon to be eight grandchildren, I’d do it all over again.

Donna & I enjoy this annual opportunity to support the Anchorage Senior Activity Center & to catch up w/folks. We also visited w/several other candidates in the governor’s race. It was all about community, not politics. A perfect summer evening for a very important cause.

Pres. Trump brought our administration’s LNG project to the national & international stage resulting in 15 MOUs. He also has created great momentum for the current project. We are the only team w/the experience to move the gasline over the finish line. WalkerHoffbeck.com/gasline

Today is Don Young Day.  Don could come off pretty gruff but boy, did he & I share some good laughs. I’m thinking of his wife, Anne & family. They were devoted to one another. Donna & I enjoyed hitting the dance floor with them on a couple of occasions. He still had the moves!

As my dad, Ed Walker, courageously served in the unforgiving Aleutians as an Alaskan Scout in WWII, & Donna's uncle, Heston, made the ultimate sacrifice in the D Day campaign, we honor the resilience and bravery that defined a generation. May their stories & patriotism live on.

At the Normandy Cemetery, our grandson searched for Donna’s uncle’s name who at 21yo perished in battle during the invasion campaign as we took in the enormity of the loss & sacrifice. No words, just soul deep gratitude.

I was asked recently to speak about a subject of great interest to me, the building of the Alcan Highway during WWII by over 10,000 soldiers in 8 months! Veterans' Day is a great day to research & learn about this against all odds feat of grit, courage, endurance, & patriotism.

Remembering my dad, Ed Walker, with love & gratitude today for his WWII service in the U.S. Army as an Alaskan Scout in the Alaskan Combat Intelligence Platoon in the Aleutians. And to all who have served and sacrificed, a grateful nation owes an enduring debt of gratitude.

All those years in Valdez prepared me for this day! This part is fun, driving today isn’t so be careful if you must be on the roads. It’s a good day for a cozy fire & eggnog. That’s where you’ll find me later today.

I heard many stories of combat & survival from my dad who served with Castner's Cutthroats aka the Alaskan Scouts in the Aleutians in WWII. Dad instilled in us a deep respect for our country & for all who valiantly & sacrificially serve to defend our freedom. Happy Veterans Day!
