There are hundreds, if not thousands, of Americans out there who honestly think that Elon Musk just received a giant vault with one trillion dollars in it - and he's swimming around in it and laughing at poor people like he's Scrooge McDuck.

You may be asking yourself, “Why would Microsoft choose to use a known buggy Rust clone of Coreutils… instead of the real thing?”
The answer, I believe, is obvious.
The GNU CoreUtils are GPL licensed.
The Rust clones are MIT licensed.
Which means Microsoft can distribute them without including the source.
Note that, in the license file, Microsoft even declared that their version of the Rust CoreUtils clones are “Copyright Microsoft Corporation”.

Microsoft is now officially maintaining CoreUtils builds for Windows.
But it’s not the classic, battle tested, GNU CoreUtils.
It’s the Rust Clones of CoreUtils known as “Uutils”.
The increasingly buggy, not yet feature complete, Rust clones which Ubuntu has decided to ship, by default, before they were ready for prime time.
