Scaling up Anaerobic Digestion reduces our carbon footprint and combats climate change by capturing methane emissions, creating clean energy, diverting landfill waste, and replacing costly chemical fertilisers with nutrient-rich digestate🌍#biogas #biocore #Anaerobicdigestion

Want a sober reminder of where we are in addressing the climate crisis? Over the last 50 years the oil & gas industry has made $3 billion in profits every day. $52 trillion in pure profit: buff.ly/3iXkJwm Time to unplug fossil fuels.#ActOnClimate #climate #biodiversity

Ahead of the EU Fertiliser Action Plan, we joined NGOs & farmer groups to call for a shift away from fossil-based synthetic inputs. Dependency on volatile gas & fertiliser markets is not resilience. Organic & agroecological systems show another path 🌱 eeb.org/en/library/open-lett…

No fertilisers = no food. Higher prices are pushing farmers to their limits: less fertiliser, lower yields. With the next sowing season approaching, Europe cannot afford to wait. Today, we're acting with a new Action Plan to ↓↓

Today, the European Commission announced the Fertiliser Action Plan: a plan that supports farmers facing rising fertiliser costs and scarcity, reinforce domestic production and reduce Europe's dependency on imports. Lets bring Ireland to net zero! #biocore #nutricore

Assistant professor of environmental horticultural in UCD Dr Noeleen Smyth told RTÉ's This Week saying that unlike animal invasive species, when it comes to plants "the enemy is within". Dr. Smyths said: "We grow nearly 70,000 things in our gardens but, it's not the things that are going to get us from out there, it's the things that are already here and spreading." National Biodiversity Week 2026 runs from Friday 15th - Sunday 24th May and Dr.Smyth discusses how Ireland already has more non-native plants recorded on its shores than Irish ones. Native plant species in Ireland had declined by 56% over the last 20 years. Over the same time, non-native abundance has increased by 80%. Read the full piece here: rte.ie/news/2026/0517/157381…
