The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Health Alert Network (HAN) Health Advisory (HAN 00530) regarding the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. This advisory alerts clinicians and public health professionals to remain vigilant as the region responds to cases caused by the rare Bundibugyo virus strain. Currently, there are no FDA-licensed vaccines or targeted therapeutics specifically for this strain, making clinical awareness, thorough travel history assessments, and prompt diagnostic capabilities the critical first line of defense.
