The Long Point area comprising 26,250 hectares, was designated as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in April, 1986, the third in Canada. Today it is one of 18 Biosphere Reserves in Canada. buff.ly/2RvNRon

Lettuce and peas can be sown as soon as the soil is workable. Germination times vary depending on soil temperature.
Peas can take as little as 9 days, that is why peas are a great choice for raised beds where soil warms quicker in spring!

Today's #GeorgianBayBirdoftheDay is a bit of an anomaly among woodpeckers, in that it flies south for the winter and spends most of its time feeding on the ground. Look for the beautiful Northern Flicker to be returning to #GeorgianBay very soon.
