Bp Tonel was serving as Bishop of Ipil when he was appointed as Archbishop of Zamboanga. This is the very first time in Zambo’s history that its Archbishop will be coming directly from one of its suffragan diocese. Ipil, Basilan, and Jolo are under Zambo Archdiocese.
