The bill will fund the degree program at UDC for D.C. residents. It’ll also cover the cost of books and student licensing exams, as well as provide students with a monthly stipend for living expenses and transportation. dcist.com/story/23/11/08/dc-…

We all have. This doesn’t negate that they are social work adjacent but not social workers.

In almost 30 yrs in SW, I've worked w/many "SW's" with related degrees but with lived experience that are more effective and practice closer to NASW standards than some MSW's with little to no lived experience, cultural humility, ability to work with black and brown communities.

If you get hired as a nurse with no nursing degree does that make you a nurse? If you give your friend a Tylenol and take their vitals does that make you a nurse? If you have no social work degree you are not a social worker.

I understand that perspective which is clearly accurate to some, at least philosophically, although not always technically correct (if your job title in a gov position is "Social Worker", by definition you are technically a Social Worker.)

When criminal defense attorney Mea Harper takes on the murder case of artist Zyair Malloy, the truth isn't as obvious as it seems. While she tries to determine the innocence or guilt of her cagy-yet-seductive client, it is uncovered that everyone is guilty of something.

Many of us know Black men who have died by suicide. As more discourse hits the mainstream, it leaves the most vulnerable, (our brothers) out of the conversation. Join the BHM Summit esteemed panel as they discuss guidance and support for reclaiming mental well-being for full-hearted living. Courtney B Vance and Dr. Robin Smith have co-authored a book, THE INVISIBLE ACHE: BLACK MEN IDENTIFYING THEIR PAIN AND RECLAIMING THEIR POWER which will be released on November 7th. In this book, Courtney B. Vance seeks to change this trajectory. Along with professional expertise from famed psychologist Dr. Robin Smith (popularly known as “Dr. Robin”), Courtney B. Vance explores issues of grief, relationships, identity, and race through the telling of his own most formative experiences.
