I was honoured to attend the Somali Village Exhibition in Bradford after being invited by Sado Jirde @BlackSWNet . The exhibition was powerful, educational, and emotional, highlighting the history, resilience, and contribution of Somali communities in Bradford and the UK. One of the most moving parts was learning about Halimo Abdi Badil, recognised as part of Bradford’s first recorded Muslim burial in 1904. The exhibition challenged colonial narratives and celebrated the strength, faith, and endurance of Somali people through historical stories and photographs. A truly inspiring experience. Thank you to the organisers for preserving and sharing this important history. #SomaliHistory #Bradford #SomaliVillageExhibition

Researchers of Black, Bangladeshi or Pakistani heritage are underrepresented in the UK and face barriers to career progression. Our Accelerator Awards, now open for a third round, are designed to help change that.
