Mass Adoption Depends on Simplicity
Blockchain's revolutionary potential (self-custody, censorship resistance, verifiable data) means little if everyday users can't use it without frustration. Traditional Web2 apps (like Venmo, PayPal, or banking apps) are frictionless. Crypto often requires managing seed phrases, understanding gas fees, switching networks, signing confusing transactions, and dealing with irreversible errors.
- Surveys and studies consistently show that complex onboarding and technical jargon are the top reasons new users drop off.
- Poor UX leads to abandoned transactions, lost funds (via mistakes), and negative word-of-mouth. Good UX turns curious users into loyal ones who recommend the product.
