I just left a customer mid quote. Simple tree trimming job but the guy was super difficult from the moment I walked up. Complained the entire time I was there and was very condescending. I simply told him I wasn’t a good fit for his needs and walked back to my truck. I’m busy enough not to have to deal with difficult people and I’m very thankful for that.

Jehovahs witnesses are in my neighborhood. Walked right past my no soliciting signs to ring my doorbell. My wife got off of a 12 hour shift at the hospital at 8am and is trying to sleep. I open the door and 3 of my 4 children are doing their best to rip the door off the hinges to get outside. I tried as politely as possible to tell them now is clearly not the best time. Very polite but the gentleman really struggled to read the room and I basically had to shut the door on them to contain all of my sex trophies.

People keep sending me Trent Ellis videos and saying we look alike. It’s racist. Not all Gingers look alike.

Typical group chat for my company. Brandon hasn’t been handling the heat well. He’s thrown up a few times this week. He was proud he didn’t today but I decided to humble him slightly.

Ok water main break from yesterday story time. Somehow Scooby didn’t see it. No idea how. He is permanently grounded. I’m tired of him messing up. Customer was upset. When it hit the lid it cracked the old metal piping and started leaking. I told my lead to let him know and I immediately called a plumber and had him on the way. Customer was very very upset and made a statement about it being on his side and him having to pay to get it fixed. We then informed him that he wasn’t paying to fix anything and we were not Leaving until his water was completely fixed. His mood immediately changed and he then proceeded to get me to quote and agreed to $6000 more work in the woods next to his home. Customers are so used to dealing with terrible contractors who don’t take ownership that they are immediately quick to anger and it’s sad.

I’m implementing a bonus system at work. If we hit $16,500 or higher in revenue in a week they get a 1% bonus of revenue. I’m going to scale it as well. If we manage to hit $25k in a week it will bump to 2%. I want to reward the guys for efficient work practices. Interested if anyone else is doing this kind of thing with their crew and the results they’ve seen.

I have been to 3 different stores looking for a pintle hitch. Now I’m driving across town to Tractor Supply. When did this become such a rare thing?!

Quick little skid steer tip. If you want to know if it’s too wet to operate without destroying a yard do this. If you can indent the soil beneath the grass with your thumb by a 1/4” the skid steer is going to peel it like crazy. So either bring arbor mats and plywood galore or reschedule with your customer.

I did a quote for a guy two weeks ago. He told a guy I do business with that my prices were too high. No biggie my prices aren’t for everyone. It’s very rural and there are plenty of bubbas with chainsaws and trucks who will do it cheaper. He calls Brian (not me) and tells him it’s an emergency and he needs me to come back out immediately. I told Brian it would be later this week before I could give him a quote we are slammed. The tree fell last night and crushed the guys car. He’s now upset with me and Brian. People are weird.

Neighbor called the cops on me because I was blocking his driveway and blew stuff towards his yard. Of course never asked me to move and wasn’t even home. Luckily the cop they sent out owns his own tree company and uses me to grind stumps.

The amount of scams I deal with on a weekly basis are insane. I don’t get what people benefit out of trying to have a tree cut down that doesn’t belong to them.

Hey it only took one storm to fix my work flow. Now I just need it to stop raining so I can actually work.

My customer this week had a blue heeler. I wanted to pet it. Real bad. All the signs were there that I should in fact not pet him. Every time I walked up he growled, barked, and charged the fence. I still asked if I could pet it. Because I’m not smart. Customer told me the dog bites him occasionally so he would definitely bite me.
