My heart is full of sorrow today. Late Saturday night, I received the devastating news that Delegate Candi Mundon King’s beloved daughter, Candis, lost her courageous battle with sickle cell disease. No parent should ever experience the loss of a child at the hands of a cruel and unforgiving illness. Delegate King is one of the bravest, kindest, and most remarkable people I know. From the moment you meet her, you feel her strength and her light. She is a fighter for her community, a bold voice for the disabled, and above all—a loving mother who would move mountains for her children. The Virginia House of Delegates is a family, and today, our family is grieving. We stand with the Kings in prayer, lifting them up in love and in strength. We know we don’t worship a hateful God. Even in our pain, we know that God is good.

The fallen firefighter from last night’s home explosion in Sterling has been identified as Firefighter Trevor Brown, 45, of the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company. He has been affiliated with the LC-CFRS since 2016. @Chief600KJ
