Final Fantasy exclusivity is finally over.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is launching day one on Xbox, ending years of platform lockouts and giving Xbox players a true seat at the table for the series’ biggest releases.
Huge moment for the platform and for fans who have waited way too long.
Unless you don't care about FF, in which case you can ignore this tweet and continue to play Mario or something.🔗windowscentral.com/gaming/xb…
A new report suggests that Microsoft is considering restructuring Xbox, and that the option is "on the table." 👀
It also notes that the firm wants to "move faster" with the development of new Halo, Fallout, and The Elder Scrolls games.

"Nintendo wanted to block Palworld — now it faces a 0% chance and a measly $30K payout."

"Public record shows the Nintendo v Pocketpair case is practically wrapped up and the best Nintendo can hope for is $30k chump change."
Kinda wild outcome in the end, seems like it was a huge waste of time for Nintendo.
Playground Games has acknowledged the save-wiping bug in Forza Horizon 6, with fixes rolling out on PC and Xbox.

Xbox leadership openly saying it has become difficult to explain why someone should pick an Xbox console is a major moment.
The company says exclusives need to serve a bigger purpose than sales and that the console message is not landing the way it used to.
This could signal a major shift in how Xbox defines its hardware and its first-party strategy. 🔗windowscentral.com/gaming/xb…
A former Halo artist says AI will make players finish fewer games and that studios relying on it are in for a rude awakening.
“Unless you know what you’re doing, AI is not going to help you, all the problems that people have had in games and the reasons why they don’t finish games, AI is not going to solve that. AI is going to help you not finish games even more. If you’re the type of art director who doesn’t know what they want, you still won’t know what you want.”

The XBOX news train does not stop rolling, but unfortunately, this time it's not all fun and games.
Alongside its "Next 100 Days: XBOX Reset" memo sent to all employees before being made public, a report suggests that significant layoffs are planned in the near future.
Not the come down anyone wanted to hear after the big Showcase at the weekend.

From seriously beyond incredible-looking first-party games to the return of Xbox Console Exclusives to feedback-driven Xbox Series X|S updates to simply hearing the right things being said... There is an energy here which I haven't seen in quite a long time and it's amazing.
XBOX CEO, Asha Sharma, has been talking about the company's approach to exclusives, and why the decisions so far have been made.
"Our business isn't particularly healthy, as you noted, and so we're starting by introducing one to two signature exclusives, and as the business is healthy, we will look to try and do more.”

I went to Xbox Showcase / SGF with one question ...
How long before Microsoft forces Xbox to ditch its plans and go into extraction mode again?

I wanted to know if Microsoft will actually let Asha, Matt, and Matt actually deliver on its renewed strategy, before someone with an Excel spreadsheet comes in with the fiscal sledgehammer.
Here's what I learned.
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma reaffirms that the next-generation Project Helix console will support PC games, backward compatibility, and "high-end performance".
But will you actually be able to buy one?
"There's material work to do to make sure that it is available to the people that want to play".

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has hinted at more flexible Game Pass offerings arriving this summer and suggested "radically different" business models for future consoles.
It's an early look at how Xbox may adapt to rising hardware costs and changing player expectations 👀

Destiny 2 players just rallied behind a massive community-wide mass login event to say "goodbye".
They pushed the game past Marathon's peak Steam player count, crashed SteamDB, and presumably sent a powerful message to Bungie and Sony about the franchise's future.

Couch co‑op is finally making a real comeback. Halo and Gears are both bringing split‑screen back, and honestly, it feels like Xbox is rediscovering something it lost along the way.
This is the kind of social, living‑room energy that built these franchises in the first place — and I couldn’t be happier to see it return. 🔗 windowscentral.com/gaming/ha…
Omg the description of the upcoming Halo Campaign Evolved first-look video about skulls and campaign remix confirms what I reported about the third-person skull and other skulls that spawn different enemies such as Brutes ✅:
•Featuring 42 collectible Skulls - the most gameplay-modifying Skulls ever.
•Once collected throughout the world, Skulls unlock optional modifiers to add challenges and variety to your experience. •Activate them to supercharge your Spartan with more power, face more brutally formidable foes, shift to a 3rd Person perspective, or even make confetti explode out of your fallen enemies.
•Campaign Remix lets you add randomized weapons, altered enemy behavior, and randomized enemy encounters along with unique visual modifiers and a random assortment of up to six available Skulls from your collection. #HaloCampaignEvolved
Presenting another look at the latest instalment in the Kingdom Hearts series.
Kingdom Hearts IV will launch simultaneously on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Epic Games Store and Steam!
Stay tuned for more updates.
Now Xbox is working back towards exclusives, my complaining campaign will once again return to localisation efforts, and becoming a more global Xbox.
It is a geopolitically tricky time, particularly for U.S. Big Tech, but Xbox has a huge opportunity to serve global, non-English communities better.
