Today I returned to the same Republican wall mural in Belfast which I saw in 2020. 🇵🇸🇮🇪 It sparked great emotion seeing art dedicated to the beautiful souls of Khaled Nabhan with his granddaughter Reem. 💔 The Irish have experienced the pain of brutal occupation. The Palestinain cause is honoured here.

Huge turnout in Belfast for an anti-racism protest amid recent racist violence by the far-right. Belfast residents of all backgrounds have come together to reject hate and stand with Muslims, refugees and minorities. The crowd also expressed solidarity for the victim of Monday's horrific knife attack.

Not everyone in Belfast supports far-right racism. A local British/Irishman and convert to Islam, Jason, sends a message of solidarity to local Muslims living in fear of more Islamophobic attacks. "So do not fear them - fear me if you are believers" Quran 3:175

To see just how dangerous it is for Muslims and other minorities living in Belfast, a city plagued by militant far-right racist Unionist gangs, is truly shocking. Muslims here are terrified for a reason. They are collectively being blamed for the violent actions of one criminal. Racists have used the tragedy as an excuse to launch a pogrom - they want to chase immigrants out.

"There are groups in Belfast who call themselves vigilantes. They act like the Gestapo, going around stopping and harassing immigrants." 5Pillars spoke with a Muslim community leader in Belfast who warned that the recent anti-Muslim violence isn't a random outburst; rather, it is part of a long-running campaign of hate by far-right Unionist gangs in the city. My first report from Belfast, a city where local Muslims are gripped by fears of another racist pogrom.

Day 1 in Belfast, and its clear this is a city were Muslims are gripped by fear. Mosques guarded by armed police around the clock. Worshippers told to pray and head straight home. Burned-out halal shops still scar the streets. People are afraid to speak. Afraid to be seen. Afraid to leave their homes. The threat of far-right aggression is very real.

I've arrived in Belfast to investigate reports of anti-Muslim pogroms amid the ongoing unrest in the city. Far-right agitators and right-wing voices across Britain, such as Tommy Robinson, Reform UK, and GB News, have been accused of fanning the flames, using anger over a recent knife attack to push an anti-Islam agenda. The night before: a masked man firebombed an imam's home in Bolton. Wife and four children inside. Same week in Belfast: "ALL MUSLIMS OUT" sprayed on a stadium wall. Next to it, a crosshair. MP Claire Hanna called it on the BBC: "a race-based pogrom." This same week, Keir Starmer fast-tracked new legislation. His words: "The recent wave of antisemitic attacks has shocked the nation." The left really can’t help itself. Whenever Muslim voters put religious disagreements to one side in the name of “stopping the right,” someone in the woke camp inevitably stirs up another anti-religious row. Then people wonder why so many Muslims see politics as a pointless game.

Putting my opposition to the entire Oxford Union's anti-Islam debate to one side, the fact that Jacob Rees Mogg is on of the speakers defending Islam is just insane! The decision to have Rees Mogg, a Catholic Tory tosspot and GB News presenter, speaking for the Islam side is baffling. Why is someone from a channel known for relentlessly platforming anti-Muslim narratives, a non-expert on Islam and Muslims, who sat as a member of a 'nasty party' widely condemned for Islamophobia, being presented as fit candidate to defend Islam? BEYOND A JOKE!

This is what the far-right - Robinson, Reform, Lowe - will turn Britain into if they are allowed to seize power. The fires of hate burn everything in their path, and once the fire starts, it will be difficult to put out. It will spread, and we could all get burned. Politics built on division and hatred must never be allowed to win.
