A week ago, I left my product job at Roblox to bet on myself.
This wasn’t an easy decision. After over a decade in product, walking away from a great job felt like giving up a core part of my identity.
I’m grateful for my 3 years at Roblox and have many fond memories shipping products with my talented team of engineers, designers, and PMs. Most of all, I loved building with our creator community and watching their eyes light up as we put our products in their hands.
At the same time, I was spending nights and weekends writing about AI, interviewing AI builders, and learning to build with agents myself.
What finally helped me decide were 5 principles I wrote down after a lot of reflection.

Roblox is removing cross-game gamepass sales and forcing a $5/month requirement just to donate, with a 1,000 Robux monthly limit. This will kill PLS DONATE.
PLS DONATE is built around cross-game gamepass sales, a system that’s free for players and has no limits. Removing it doesn’t just change things, it kills the game completely.
I wasn’t made aware of this change before it was announced. No warning, no chance to give my input or feedback before they announce this change.
I’ve been developing on this platform since I was 12 and have always loved making games on Roblox, so seeing something this impactful happen overnight without real consideration is genuinely upsetting. This means a lot to me and I’m really sad about this.
The solution Roblox gave us is the Transfer API, which really isn’t a solution and still affects us heavily. It’s locked behind a $5/month subscription, capped at 1,000 Robux per month, and under-18 users require parental approval for EVERY SINGLE transaction. That completely changes the experience.
If transferring Robux is going to be paid, gamepasses need to coexist. Removing them ruins everything and doesn’t stop bad actors from just purchasing through the site anyway. It doesn’t make sense.
I really don’t want to build hatred toward this platform. I love Roblox and still believe in it, and if it truly cares about its developers, I’m sure there are better solutions that keep users safe without killing our game.

I've had some assets that were made 2 years ago taken down for "cheating and exploits"- which has resulted in my account being permanently revoked access to 3D Avatar Creation, or better known as UGC. When reaching out to appeals, I got no response. So I emailed them. I have gotten the same AI response about 5 times now saying the items were removed for misusing Roblox's system. This whole situation is making me feel extremely infuriated as I have reached out numerous times and again every email I have sent gets the same response, with nobody giving a care to actually take a look at my case.
I have obeyed Roblox's community guidelines the entire 4 years I have been creating on there and the fact this is how me and many others are treated is preposterous. Taking a look into my creator portal, I see a huge message stating that my access to 3D Avatar Item Creation has been permanently revoked. However, when emailed about this, Roblox moderation is stating the complete opposite saying that it is only temporary and to try again with a different concept. How am I supposed to try with a different concept if my access is banned? If you take a look at the photo provided, you will see that only half of the items were removed while others on my account are still up. This doesn't make any sense to me and is extremely unfair.
I'm so stuck on what to do at this point as I've done pretty much everything I can.. This is so extremely upsetting and concerning. The fact that everything can be taken away with no explanation or even an email is crazy! I would've had no idea that my access was taken away if it wasn't for the creator portal. This isn't right at all!
Oh.. and I'd also like to mention that the items were removed slowly.. starting from Dec. 30th spanning until January 5th. I'm running out of time for this to be resolved.. making all of this completely permanent. :(

Posting about this situation again because it's unfathomable how unruly Roblox has been with it's take downs! From my other post alone, I've had multiple people reach out about similar experiences they've had on the platform- with false take downs and bans, completely making them unable to further create as well.
This is ridiculous with the lack of care Roblox has been giving their creators- and after all, us creators are what helps Roblox be the platform that it is today with our ideas and aspirations. It's incredibly disheartening that with a snap of your fingers, everything can be taken away. Along with how they do not have any sort of communication when your access is permanently taken away. The fact that so many other are people are dealing with this- not only just UGC creators, should raise some eyebrows about the moderation on the platform.
Roblox has changed my life tremendously, along with tons of other creators. Without it, I would not be in the position I am today. I can provide for my family, pay medical bills, not have to worry if there will be food on the table or if the heat will be on this month. The fact that I would have to make a whole new account to continue to upload- which takes so much money already is just incredibly sad. NOBODY should have to do this and I find it a bit insane that so many people have been needing to. It's really and truly not fair whatsoever.
I really hope Roblox can better their moderation in the future. If you've also been effected by this ban wave of assets or other items, please comment. I feel for you.
*Oh yeah.. Roblox still has been avoiding help with my support emails :(

If you make UGC and it helps support you and your family you have to constantly be worried that they will change the rules then punish you retroactively. So severely that you lose access to your ability to continue to make products.

Roblox just announced MASSIVE safety changes.
🚨 Kids will soon be blocked from chatting with adults and anyone outside of their “age groups”.
No in-game chat, no messages, etc. If you’re a kid, you’ll only be able to talk with kids around your age.
