Day 353 (Part 3): This afternoon we were invited to the heritage project that has been going on at the Claremont building.
We unveiled a heritage trail from the bottom to the top of building which detailed the history of Bolton including paintings and models of the most treasured built in Bolton by Verona Medhurst and Christine Evans.
We also had the privilege of seeing artworks by
Belinda Beck and Jeff Corns who calibrated on a joint project.
Belinda worked with Jeff to help him bring to life his childhood memories using painting as a medium to express visually his memories because he had no photographs.
During the heritage project they discovered that the Council had a 1st WW Memorial in storage with the names of those that died in the war connected to Claremont.
It was my absolute privilege to celebrate its return the memorial to its rightful place in the building.
I also highlighted one particular name, Bert Steel, as he appears to be the only soldier as yet unidentifiable, no one can find any information about him or his family.
We remember veterans of the all wars, even if all we have is a name, because each name represents a life sacrificed for peace.
Honouring them ensures their courage is not forgotten and reminds us of the cost of war.

Day 28: Today we had the honour of attending the Kings Awards for Voluntary Service at the stunning Gorton Monastery.
Created in 2002 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth IIâs Golden Jubilee and previously known as The Queenâs Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS), the Award has been shining a light on the fantastic work of voluntary groups from across the UK for many years and is the highest Award given to local voluntary groups in the UK, and they are awarded for life.
This years Bolton recipients are âCreate Boltonâ and the Bolton Council of Mosques (BCoM) Funeral Service.
Create are a local Christian based charity, using the arts in their widest sense to make a difference in peoplesâ lives, helping people to connect with each other and to their wider community.
BCoM Funeral Service have established a fully supported burial service for the Muslim community that is done free of charge and by a team of volunteers.
It was a privilege to be in the room with dozens of other voluntary organisations from across Greater Manchester, but both our winners are an absolute credit to #TeamBolton.

We are so pleased to be able to announce that we have been awarded the Kings Award for Voluntary Service. Weâve been building âcreationshipsâ for 10 years now and not one day has been possible without the help and support of our volunteers.
