I was interviewed for this given our work exploring how mental health advice skews towards telling people to do more rather than less nature.com/articles/s44271-0…. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine my research would be used as a critique of Chris Martin.

I wrote how this paper came together at the link below but the inspiration very much came from @Leidyklotz and his collaborators. communities.springernature.c…
Eight experimental and naturalistic studies show that people (and chatbots) tend to give advice to improve mental health that involve us doing more (e.g., take up yoga) and they neglect solutions that involve doing less (e.g., quit junk food). @BomTarry nature.com/articles/s44271-0…

And I was able to interrogate it a bit and probe specific details of the paper by chatting with Gemini.

The craziest part though was that I could generate a brief 'podcast' summary. It has a few problems (there's an audio artefact at the start) but if I'm being fair it's actually really good and provides a good lay summary of the paper. Listen here: notebooklm.google.com/notebo…

Really interesting thread and article. Many men feel they have already been left behind and, for those accepting of 'male privilege', there is a feeling that they shouldn't talk about their problems because 'they have it so good', of course to the detriment of their mental health
NEW: an ideological divide is emerging between young men and women in many countries around the world. I think this one of the most important social trends unfolding today, and provides the answer to several puzzles.
