Hadeel died by suicide first after losing hope of gaining her father’s approval. Just three hours after learning of her death, Ahmed also took his own life. They were later buried side by side. What marriage could not unite, the grave did. Hadeel’s last words: “Tomorrow they will carry my coffin, and the story will end in pain. Tomorrow my eyes will close, O Lord, ease my loneliness and my suffering.” Ahmed’s last words: “I promised you, my love. I told you that without you, I would leave this world in peace.”
