Today we remember FLT Ed Walsh and FF Michael Kennedy on the 8th anniversary of the tragic loss of their lives at the 9 alarm fire on Beacon St. I’m proud to have known them both. Rest In Peace brothers.

On June 24, 1994 Fire Lt Stephen F Minehan paid the ultimate sacrifice trying to save 2 other firefighters at a 9 alarm fire in Charlestown. The 2 firefighters were rescued but Steve lost his life. Today I have the honor of promoting his son Joe to District Chief.

Today we remember the Hotel Vendome Fire which killed 9 Boston Firefighters 49 years ago on June 17, 1972. This moving monument hopefully will remind viewers of the risks faced by firefighters every day. Rest In Peace brothers. You’re sacrifice has not been forgotten!

Today we remember the ultimate sacrifice made by FLT Ed Walsh and FF Michael Kennedy when they lost their lives in the line of duty at a 9 alarm fire on Beacon St. in 2014. Two great guys who loved their job and families. God bless them and their families. Rest in peace brothers!

Nice job by Boston Fire on Southwood St Roxbury. Fire contained to building of origin even though there was heavy fire and high winds. Strategic placement of apparatus made a difference. Great support from @BEMSincidents @BostonSparks @bostonpolice @ISDBoston and BFD Motor Squad.

Thank you all 1st responders out there battling the extreme cold. I was at a 3 alarm fire on Thursday night and did not hear one complaint of how cold it was. Also great support units such as @BostonSparks and BFD motor squad. Thanks @bostonpolice and @BOSTON_EMS for your support

Congrats to Commissioner Dennis White @bostonpolice getting sworn in today. @BostonFire had a great working relationship with Commissioner Gross and I know that will continue with Commissioner White. For the record he started as a Boston Firefighter!

Great job @BostonFire during this past weekend dealing with the extreme cold. Multiple fires and multiple frozen hydrants certainly kept us on our toes. Preparing for the snow now!
