I’m very excited to have the final two chapters of my PhD published!! @NewPhyt doi.org/10.1111/nph.20115 about fine root xylem embolism resistance to drought. @PlantPhys doi.org/10.1093/plphys/kiae4… on the absence of root xylem refilling after drought! @Brodribb_Lab @brodersen_lab

Given the grim State of the Environment report released today by @tanya_plibersek, perhaps it's finally time to increase financial support for the people you need to fix these problems? PhD students in Aus earn below minimum wage to complete ~4 years of skilled work. Sound fair?

Yes Botanists are disappearing, perhaps if there was greater financial support in research, job security and early career opportunities people wouldn't have to choose between financial security or persuing a career in such a field. theconversation.com/botanist… via @ConversationUK

@BotanistBea’s data suggest that in a droughted tomatoes, water supply to the fruit is prioritised over leaves, and that water is coming from the xylem

Very excited that my paper on hydraulic traits in tomato with @MadelineCMurphy and @Brodribb_Lab has been published by @PlantCellEnvir. We found that fruit are prioritised through tough xylem in drought! Check out doi.org/10.1111/pce.14206 for more. @CoEPlantSuccess @UTAS_ πŸ…πŸŒΏπŸ’§
